episode 4: System failures and inspiring change cover

Description

What does justice for Aliza Sherman look like in 2023? It includes convicting her killer, of course, but 10 years later, it also means inspiring change — in Aliza's honor — to improve systems that failed her and continue to fail other victims of violence. In this episode, co-hosts Mike Butz and Sara Shookman examine the problems and possible solutions, and they share how the Aliza Sherman Fund at Cleveland Clinic will ensure Aliza's legacy is one of healing and helping those in need.

6. Gregory Moore Charged

The attorney trusted to advocate for Aliza Sherman during her contested divorce trial is now –12 years later – charged with her murder. Gregory Moore, 51, of Sagamore Hills, was indicted on May 2 on 10 criminal counts in the death of Sherman on March 24, 2013 [https://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local_news/sanford-sherman-dead/article_13eee51c-3f99-11ef-aeab-53257b9aaa5c.htmlhttps://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local_news/10-years-later-daughter-continues-crusade-to-keep-mother-s-memory-alive/article_c6c0c04c-c45d-11ed-b617-8be1187af715.html]. Sherman, a 53-year-old in-vitro fertilization nurse and mother of four, was stabbed 11 times outside the Stafford Law Company in downtown Cleveland, where Moore worked, and she was scheduled to meet with him that Sunday night. She died later that day. This special episode of "Aliza: Her Story" explores this latest update in the 12-year cold case ahead of Moore's extradition hearing on May 14 in Texas and scheduled arraignment on May 16 at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center.
