Audioguided tour of Florence (english)
PalazzoPitti, located in the Oltrarno district of Florence, is an imposing Renaissancepalace that houses numerous museums and art galleries. Built in 1458 for thebanker Luca Pitti, it was purchased by the Medici in 1549 and became the mainresidence of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. Inside, you'll find the PalatineGallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Museum of Fashion and Costume, theMuseum of Porcelain, and the Museum of Carriages. The palace also serves as theentrance to the Boboli Gardens, one of the most important Italian-stylegardens.
