Bands You've Never Heard Of
We started this one differently. No theme song. No intro. Just the video for "Desert Moon" — dark, shot in a Savannah swamp at midnight with one light on the back of a truck. That's your introduction to Dallas Wax. Ryan Dallas Wax (yes, that's his real name) moved from Peachtree City, Georgia to New York City, found four other Southern guys who'd all ended up there, and formed a five-piece band playing punk-soaked psychedelic blues rock that Gary compared to Billy Idol stumbling into a Sturgill Simpson record. They've been on tour. They just booked Austin City Limits Festival. Their debut album Metanoia drops June 19th. And they sent us the first track — "Bluff" — a week early. His mom called the Burt Show. He showed up late. He had no shoes on. It was a great time.
