Plants are fascinating. Before any of them can grow their seeds have to be buried. Down in the soil, buried in darkness, something happens, without which nothing new ever emerges. What looks like death is actually the very thing that makes new life possible. Join us this Sunday at BCC as we begin our new series, Buried. Raised. Sent. and wrestle with the reality that growth often requires us to bury some things first. Old habits. Old identities. Old wounds. Old shame. The versions of ourselves we keep dragging into the future. We try to love well. We provide, protect, serve, sacrifice, and do everything we can for someone. Then why does resentment still grow, pride still deepen, and affection still quietly disappear? After all, we’ve been told “love is a verb.” It’s shown in words and deeds. But if that were enough, our relationships wouldn’t so often end up exhausted, fractured, or empty. What if we’ve been doing this love thing wrong all along? Join us this Sunday as we explore a vision of love that goes far deeper than what love does and discover what true love actually looks like. Turns out, one tool (no matter how good it is) can’t do the whole job. You actually need a variety, each one designed for a purpose, to build something that works. Our Freedom William Wallace’s cry in Braveheart still echoes in our culture: “You can take our lives, but you can never take our freedom!” It’s more than a movie line—it’s a mantra. We prize freedom, protect it, fight for it, and build our lives around it. Freedom means choice. Freedom means rights. Freedom means no one tells me what to do. But what if the way we cling to our freedom is actually what’s holding us captive? What if our insistence on doing what we want, when we want, has quietly become a kind of bondage—pulling us away from what God wants to do in us and through us? When a building collapses, the question isn’t just what happened—it’s what failed? Engineers don’t start with the surface; they go straight to the structure. Because almost every time, it comes down to integrity. Something that was supposed to hold everything together didn’t. The same is true in the church—and in our lives. When integrity is compromised, things don’t just drift… they collapse.
