MAY 18 - Choosing the Right Path 3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 16:5–6; 2 Corinthians 6–7 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A5%E2%80%936%3B%202%20Corinthians%206%E2%80%937&version=WEB&interface=print] //3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon [https://amzn.to/4pmHfWh] // ________________________________________ “Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished. By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord one turns away from evil.” — Proverbs 16:5–6 (ESV) “We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide open. You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections.” — 2 Corinthians 6:11–12 (ESV) “I rejoice, not that you were grieved, but that your grief led to repentance. For you felt a godly sorrow, so that you were not overwhelmed by it.” — 2 Corinthians 7:9 (ESV) ________________________________________ Life is full of choices, and sometimes it’s hard to know which path is right. Proverbs 16 reminds us that arrogance and pride lead to destruction, but choosing love, faithfulness, and reverence for God guides us away from trouble. Even when we make mistakes, God’s steadfast love provides a way to turn back and start over. In 2 Corinthians 6–7, Paul speaks to the power of open hearts and godly sorrow—when we face correction, we can either resist it or let it shape us into something better. Feeling convicted or remorseful isn’t a sign of failure; it’s a sign that God is working in your heart to guide you toward His best. When you’re tempted to act selfishly, give in to pride, or ignore what’s right, remember that your choices have consequences. But the amazing news is that God’s love is bigger than your mistakes. He wants your heart to stay wide open to His guidance, and He can turn every moment of regret into growth. ________________________________________ THINK ABOUT IT 1. Check Your Heart: Are there areas of pride or arrogance in your life that might be blocking God’s blessing (Proverbs 16:5–6)? 2. Open Up: How can you keep your heart wide open to correction and guidance, even when it’s uncomfortable (2 Corinthians 6:11–12)? 3. Godly Sorrow vs. Guilt: How does understanding the difference between godly sorrow and guilt help you respond to mistakes in a way that leads to growth and not despair (2 Corinthians 7:9)? ________________________________________ BOTTOM LINE Your choices matter, but God’s love and guidance can turn even mistakes into growth when your heart is open to Him. ________________________________________ PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for Your steadfast love that guides me even when I make mistakes. Help me to stay humble, avoid pride, and keep my heart wide open to Your correction. Teach me to respond with godly sorrow that leads to growth, and give me the courage to choose Your way over my own. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 3 - God Sees and God Answers

JUNE 3 - God Sees and God Answers 3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 17:5; 1 Samuel 1–2 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2017%3A5%3B%201%20Samuel%201%E2%80%932&version=WEB&interface=print] //3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon [https://amzn.to/4pmHfWh] // ________________________________________ “Whoever mocks the poor insults his Maker; he who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.” — Proverbs 17:5 (ESV) “She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly. And she vowed a vow and said, ‘O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant and remember me… I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life.’” — 1 Samuel 1:10–11 (ESV) “And Hannah prayed and said, ‘My heart exults in the Lord; my strength is exalted in the Lord.’” — 1 Samuel 2:1 (ESV) ________________________________________ Have you ever had a prayer that felt like it was taking forever to be answered? Hannah did. She longed for a child for years, and in her deep pain, she poured her heart out to God in 1 Samuel 1. What’s amazing is that after God answered, she didn’t forget Him—she gave her son Samuel back to the Lord’s service. In Proverbs 17:5, we’re reminded that God cares deeply about how we treat others, especially those who are hurting. Hannah’s story shows us that God sees our tears, hears our prayers, and turns our pain into praise, just like she celebrated in 1 Samuel 2:1. Waiting on God isn’t easy. But Hannah teaches us that our pain can become a platform for God’s glory when we trust Him and stay faithful, even when life doesn’t make sense. ________________________________________ THINK ABOUT IT 1. God Sees Your Pain: What does Hannah’s prayer in 1 Samuel 1 teach you about bringing your deepest struggles honestly to God? 2. Compassion Matters: How does Proverbs 17:5 challenge you to treat people who are hurting or struggling around you? 3. Praise After the Answer: When God answers your prayers—or even while you’re still waiting—how can you praise Him like Hannah did in 1 Samuel 2:1? ________________________________________ BOTTOM LINE God sees your tears, hears your prayers, and can turn your pain into a story of praise when you trust Him fully. ________________________________________ PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for hearing me when I cry out to You. Help me to trust You while I wait and to stay faithful no matter how long it takes. Teach me to show compassion to others who are hurting and to give You praise for every answered prayer. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 2 - Refined and Redeemed

JUNE 2 - Refined and Redeemed 3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 17:3–4; Psalm 63; Ruth 3–4 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2017%3A3%E2%80%934%3B%20Psalm%2063%3B%20Ruth%203%E2%80%934&version=WEB&interface=print] //3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon [https://amzn.to/4pmHfWh] // ________________________________________ “The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the Lord tests hearts. An evildoer listens to wicked lips, and a liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue.” — Proverbs 17:3–4 (ESV) “Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.” — Psalm 63:3–4 (ESV) “Then the women said to Naomi, ‘Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a redeemer… He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age.’” — Ruth 4:14–15 (ESV) ________________________________________ Have you ever felt like life was heating up—like everything was testing your patience, faith, or even your identity? Proverbs 17:3 says God uses these “furnace” moments to refine our hearts, the way fire purifies gold. Meanwhile, Psalm 63 reminds us that God’s love is better than life itself and can fill us with hope even when things feel tough. And in Ruth 4, we see how God worked through heartbreak and uncertainty to bring redemption and new beginnings for Ruth and Naomi. Life’s challenges don’t always make sense right away. But just like fire transforms raw gold into something beautiful, God can use hard times to shape your character, deepen your faith, and lead you into His greater plans—just like He did for Ruth. ________________________________________ THINK ABOUT IT 1. Refined by Fire: What tough situations in your life might God be using to strengthen your faith or shape your character (Proverbs 17:3)? 2. Better Than Life: How can focusing on God’s steadfast love (Psalm 63:3) help you stay hopeful and joyful even when things feel uncertain? 3. God’s Redemption Story: Ruth’s story went from loss to blessing. How can trusting God’s bigger plan give you courage when your own story feels incomplete (Ruth 4:14–15)? ________________________________________ BOTTOM LINE God uses life’s challenges to refine us, fill us with His love, and lead us into His perfect plan of redemption. ________________________________________ PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for using even the hard moments in my life to grow my faith and draw me closer to You. Help me to trust Your plan, find joy in Your steadfast love, and believe that You can bring beauty and blessing out of my challenges. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 1 - Peace Over Plenty

JUNE 1 - Peace Over Plenty 3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 17:1–2; Ruth 1–2 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2017%3A1%E2%80%932%3B%20Ruth%201%E2%80%932&version=WEB&interface=print] //3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon [https://amzn.to/4pmHfWh] // ________________________________________ “Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house full of feasting with strife.” — Proverbs 17:1 (ESV) “But Ruth said, ‘Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.’” — Ruth 1:16 (ESV) “Then Boaz said to Ruth, ‘Now, listen, my daughter, do not go to glean in another field or leave this one, but keep close to my young women.’” — Ruth 2:8 (ESV) ________________________________________ Ever been in a situation where everything looked good on the outside, but inside there was drama, tension, or conflict? Proverbs 17:1 says peace and quiet are better than a feast filled with fighting. Ruth’s story shows this in real life—after losing everything, she chose faithfulness, love, and trust in God over an easier path back home. And then in Ruth 2, we see Boaz, a man of kindness and integrity, stepping in to provide and protect. It’s a reminder that sometimes life will offer you quick wins or flashy opportunities, but true blessing comes through peace, faithfulness, and walking with God—even when the path seems hard or uncertain. ________________________________________ THINK ABOUT IT 1. Peace Over Chaos: Why do you think Proverbs 17:1 says peace is better than plenty? Can you think of a situation where you chose peace over drama? 2. Faithful Choices: Ruth chose to stay with Naomi even when it meant sacrifice. How can you stay faithful to God and others when life gets tough? 3. Kindness That Counts: Boaz showed kindness and protection to Ruth. Who can you encourage or help this week, even in a small way? ________________________________________ BOTTOM LINE True blessing comes when we choose peace, faithfulness, and kindness over drama, shortcuts, or selfishness. ________________________________________ PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me that peace and faithfulness matter more than quick wins or flashy opportunities. Help me choose Your path even when it’s hard and to be kind and faithful like Ruth and Boaz. Fill my life with Your peace and teach me to share it with others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May 31 - Trust in the Unseen Plan

MAY 31 - Trust in the Unseen Plan 3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 16:33; Psalm 62; Ephesians 6 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A33%3B%20Psalm%2062%3B%20Ephesians%206&version=WEB&interface=print] //3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon [https://amzn.to/4pmHfWh] // ________________________________________ “The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.” — Proverbs 16:33 (ESV) “My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” — Psalm 62:5, 6 (ESV) “Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness.” — Ephesians 6:14 (ESV) ________________________________________ Ever feel like life is a game of chance, where everything is unpredictable and out of your control? It can feel that way when school, friendships, or even family situations get complicated. Proverbs 16:33 reminds us that even when things seem random, God is in control of every detail. Psalm 62 encourages us to find our rest in Him, trusting that He is our rock no matter what storms come. And Ephesians 6 shows us that we aren’t helpless—we can put on God’s armor to stand strong in the face of challenges, protecting ourselves with truth, righteousness, and faith. Life might feel uncertain, but God’s plan is sure. Trusting Him doesn’t mean we sit back and do nothing—it means we act faithfully, make wise choices, and stand firm in what is right, all while leaning on Him. Each decision, big or small, matters because God is guiding us, even when we can’t see the outcome. ________________________________________ THINK ABOUT IT 1. Trust His Control: How can recognizing that “every decision is from the Lord” (Proverbs 16:33) change the way you respond to unexpected events in your life? 2. Rest in God: What practical ways can you turn to God for rest and strength when life feels overwhelming (Psalm 62:5-6)? 3. Arm Yourself Daily: What pieces of God’s armor (Ephesians 6:14) do you need to focus on today to stand strong against pressure, peer influence, or fear? ________________________________________ BOTTOM LINE Even when life feels uncertain, God is in control, and trusting Him equips you to stand firm with courage and confidence. ________________________________________ PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for being my rock and guiding every part of my life. Help me to trust You even when I don’t understand what’s happening, and give me the strength to stand firm in Your truth and righteousness. Teach me to rest in You, act wisely, and rely on Your armor each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May 30 - Strength in Patience

MAY 30 - Strength in Patience 3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 16:31–32; Ephesians 5 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A31%E2%80%9332%3B%20Ephesians%205&version=WEB&interface=print] //3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon [https://amzn.to/4pmHfWh] // ________________________________________ “Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life. Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” — Proverbs 16:31–32 (ESV) “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.” — Ephesians 5:11–12 (ESV) “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” — Ephesians 5:8 (ESV) ________________________________________ Life can feel like a race to get noticed, be popular, or prove yourself. But Proverbs 16:32 reminds us that real strength isn’t about winning arguments, getting your way, or having the loudest voice—it’s about patience, self-control, and walking in righteousness. In Ephesians 5, Paul calls us to live as light in a world full of darkness. That means refusing to be pulled into gossip, harmful habits, or peer pressure, and instead choosing actions that honor God. Choosing patience and self-control can feel slow or even frustrating. It’s tempting to react in anger when someone hurts you or to join in when everyone else is doing something wrong. But every time you choose wisely, you’re building a character that lasts—a crown of glory that no one can take away. The way you respond today matters more than the applause you get from peers. ________________________________________ THINK ABOUT IT 1. Self-Control Over Strength: When someone pushes your buttons, how can you respond with patience and not anger (Proverbs 16:32)? 2. Walk in Light: Are there areas in your life where you’re tempted to follow the crowd into “darkness”? How can you choose to live as a child of light (Ephesians 5:8)? 3. Integrity Counts: How does avoiding secret or harmful behaviors (Ephesians 5:11–12) help you grow stronger inside, even if nobody sees it right away? ________________________________________ BOTTOM LINE True strength is shown in patience, self-control, and walking in God’s light, even when it’s hard or unnoticed. ________________________________________ PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching me that real strength comes from patience and self-control. Help me to resist temptation, walk in Your light, and honor You with my choices, even when it’s hard. Shape my heart to respond with wisdom and integrity each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
