SHE KNOWS THE WORD [BIBLE STUDY FOR WOMEN] – How to Study the Bible, Understand Scripture, Bible Reading
What happens when God's promises collide with our most painful seasons? Exodus chapter 1 reveals a profound truth that challenges our assumptions about faith and suffering: being chosen by God doesn't immunize us from pain, oppression, or loss. As we examine the Israelites' brutal enslavement in Egypt, we discover something remarkable. The very same people God had chosen and promised to multiply were experiencing crushing labor, bitter treatment, and systematic oppression. Yet in the midst of their darkest hour, God's promise was being fulfilled. With each increase in Pharaoh's cruelty came an increase in the Hebrew population. This isn't coincidence; it's divine strategy. We learn that pain and promise can occupy the same season of our lives. While we're struggling financially, our character might be strengthening. While we're battling illness, our intimacy with God might be deepening. The Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, teach us that fearing God more than man positions us for blessing even when obedience seems dangerous. Perhaps most powerfully, we see that even in seasons of relentless hardship, the Israelites maintained intimacy and love in their relationships. They didn't let their circumstances steal their capacity for connection. This reminds us that every difficult season isn't a call for isolation. When we're tempted to believe our current struggle disqualifies us from God's calling, we need only look at these chosen people suffering in Egypt to know that difficulty and destiny walk hand in hand. Chapters Chapter 1: Introduction and Background of Exodus 1 0:00 - 3:09 We are introduced to Exodus chapter 1, learning how the Israelites went from honored guests in Egypt to oppressed slaves under a new Pharaoh who feared their growing population. Chapter 2: Pharaoh's Failed Strategies to Limit Israel 3:09 - 10:54 We examine Pharaoh's three failed attempts to reduce the Israelite population: harsh labor, commanding midwives to kill Hebrew boys, and finally ordering all Egyptians to throw Hebrew boys into the Nile. Chapter 3: Key Observations and Spiritual Lessons 10:54 - 19:40 We discover crucial observations from the text, including the correlation between oppression and multiplication, the midwives' fear of God over man, and how Egyptian citizens participated in genocide. Chapter 4: Timeless Truths for Difficult Seasons 19:40 - 25:04 We learn that being chosen by God does not prevent pain, that pain and promise can coexist, and that relationships matter even in hardship, while God's plans will always prevail. Chapter 5: Application and Call to Bible Study 25:04 - 27:54 We are challenged to recognize growth in our difficult seasons and invited to join a community committed to consistent Bible study as our first line of spiritual defense. 📖 Want to read the Bible but don’t know where to start?
