Bob Perry Prayer
Welcome to Day 23 of our Jabez Prayer Journey! Today, we lean into one of the most heartfelt requests in the prayer of Jabez: “Keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” Across translations, this plea takes many shapes—freedom from evil, rescue from sorrow, a shield from trouble, and a hope for peace in every area of life. Sometimes it’s about being protected from outside threats, and sometimes it’s a cry for relief from inner grief or sorrow. Jabez’s prayer reminds us it’s not selfish to ask for God’s protection and emotional peace. When we ask for God to keep us safe and whole, we’re trusting Him to care for every part of our lives and the lives we serve, help, and touch. Heavenly Father, Thank you for being our shield and our peace. We come to you, like Jabez, asking for your protection—body, mind, and spirit. Keep us from harm and deliver us from anything that causes pain, grief, or sorrow. Guard our hearts against discouragement, anxiety, and fear. Protect our families, our work, and our communities from evil and disaster. Where we have been wounded, bring your healing touch. Where we experience pain from others, give us the grace to forgive, wisdom to navigate how to walk forward, and a gift of compassion out of this experience. Let your comfort and presence be our constant safety and our steady hope. May we walk in freedom, not only spared from harm, but also equipped to bless others with your peace. Amen.
