T1D Exchange is dedicated to improving outcomes for the entire T1D population through driving real-world evidence and collaborative change. Their vision is Better, Longer Lives for all People with T1D. We're joined by two of T1D Exchanges leaders, Dave Walton, CEO, and Charlie Iacono, Vice President of Industry Relations and Commercial Partnerships for a great conversation. We touch on change in the diabetes landscape, diversity and inclusion, and the importance of getting involved in research studies. Both Dave and Charlie live with diabetes and talk about their involvement with the community from a professional and personal standpoint. Their goal of helping the future generations is very evident after speaking with them - we're pleased to work with such a great organization that supports research. They are building the most robust type 1 diabetes data platform in the United States and using it to drive meaningful research and innovation in treatment, prevention, and, hopefully, a cure. With our partners, we work to increase patient access to care and resources, promote education, and advocate for policy that helps our community, and leads to better, longer lives for all with T1D. During Black History month, Bolus Maximus spoke with 7 men to better understand their thoughts on some very important topics. They spoke about their relationship with healthcare professionals and the trust they have for their providers - or lack thereof. "If your doctor isn't helping you - fire them. They work for you!" - this is not possible for everyone, but you are your own best advocate. The need for mentorship within the black community has never been greater and some of our contributors talk about their personal experience and how life could have been different if they had a diabetic role model. All of these outspoken thought-leaders have been present on our calls where we have an opportunity to mentor others and they play a key role in building a better community. This is the second part of a multipart series Bolus Maximus will host, and we're excited to have this opportunity to create a safe and engaging space for people of color. During Black History month, Bolus Maximus spoke with 6 women to better understand their thoughts on some very meaningful topics. They spoke about their relationship with healthcare professionals and the trust they have for their providers or lack thereof. The need for mentorship within the black community and sharing parts of themselves with people living with diabetes, especially on social media and platforms they engage in. Their input for the online community hits home for many people as mental health is a major component of sharing who you are and how you see yourself. These women, most of them business owners, spoke about setting up for-profit entities and protecting your intellectual properties. Ownership is paramount in this crazy world. These women have the keys to success - this is the first of a multipart series Bolus Maximus will host, and we're excited to have this opportunity to create a safe and engaging space for people of color. Alexis Newman joins us for our first call of 2021 as she celebrates 37 years living with Type 1 Diabetes! Currently living outside Philly, Alexis talks about her diagnosis at 18months old and the support she received growing up. Now, as a registered Dietitian, her job focuses on emotional eating and helping women accept themselves and their body for what it is. This conversation is fun for Bolus Maximus as Alexis has been an active member of our support calls every Sunday.
