The Village Left... Now What? | Fatherhood with Langley "Casual Word" Shazor
Fatherhood looks different for every man, but one thing remains the same: the impact a father has on the lives of his children.
In this special Father's Day edition of Breaking the Silence, I sat down with Langley "Casual Word" Shazor, a longtime friend of mine who I consider family, to discuss his journey as a father and what fatherhood truly means to him.
Langley is an Author, Podcaster, Motivational Speaker, Entrepreneur, Poet, Pastor, and Public Speaking Coach originally from the Virgin Islands. Throughout his life and career, he has dedicated himself to helping others find their voice, walk in purpose, and become better versions of themselves.
During our conversation, we reflected on how much parenting has changed since we were children. We talked about the importance of paying attention to our children's emotions, being mindful of the content and influences they are exposed to, and the challenges parents face in today's world that previous generations didn't have to navigate.
We also discussed the idea of "the village" and how many people feel that sense of community no longer exists. We explored why some parents become defensive when others attempt to offer guidance or support and what that means for raising the next generation.
This conversation isn't just about fatherhood—it's about responsibility, communication, leadership, and creating safe spaces for our children to grow, learn, and thrive.
Whether you're a parent, grandparent, mentor, educator, or someone who simply cares about the future of our youth, this episode offers valuable insight, perspective, and encouragement.
