Explaining The Symbolism In the Movie Stay

**SPOILERS** Stay is a film about a man who is, well, dying. He doesn't want to let go of the potential that his life had. He still has so much to do on earth after all. The thing is that the movie doesn't showcase this through some dramatic, heavenly dreamscape. Instead, it takes you on a wild cinematic ride that can only be described as a fever dream. There are so many symbolic elements that make this movie a truly fascinating watch. I break them all down here in this podcast. I will resume normal uploads for the book club next week. This movie deals with tough topics about death and abusive family dynamics. Andy is a lowly family man who just happens to be lying about his entire life. When he is outed by his daughter, he decides that he will do the only thing that he can to maintain his image. He kills them. Come with me to look beyond the tragedy into the psyche of a man who is so fundamentally broken that he would rather take his whole family out than admit he may have messed up. His crimes are akin to many others in the zeitgeist (chris watts, namely) that have been talked about for almost a decade. It's a perverse look into the disturbing nature of the family annihilator.
