Welcome to our Pride Month double feature! We read two books this month: Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. What could be better than two hot British guys fake dating each other?! If you prefer your love stories to have a side of historical fiction, adventure, and gut-wrenching life-or-death moments, Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid will be more your speed. This might be the most we’ve ever disagreed on anything we’ve watched or read... Thanks for listening, and let us know what books you'd like us to review next! Voicemails for Isabelle | Maybe RomComs Really Are So Back

Welcome back to Call Me When They Kiss!Today we reviewed another Netflix Original, which as we all know, could be very hit or miss. We were certainly apprehensive after Office Romance. We went into Voicemails for Isabelle with medium expectations, and were pleasantly surprised by how much we loved it! This RomCom had heart, humor, and a hot, steamy make-out -- a simple formula that for some reason, has been hard for writers to nail lately! Before we dive into the movie, we briefly discuss the Icebreaker announcement -- another hockey romance that has been picked up by Netflix for an adaptation. We also share a couple Love Island thoughts and opinions. If you're watching Love Island too, let us know in the comments if you love Brinity as much as we do. 3Thank you for listening! If you enjoy the episode, please leave us a 5-star rating and a review. :)

Office Romance | Is It a Classic Rom-Com or Raunchy Comedy?

This week, we watched Office Romance, Netflix’s latest “romantic comedy” starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein. Brett, who also co-wrote the film, set out to "make an old-school rom-com" ... but did he actually accomplish his goal? We let you know what we think. Before we dive into the movie, we kick things off with our Week 1 recap of Love Island USA, because there, OF COURSE, there's already plenty to discuss. Then we get into our full review of Office Romance. We share what worked, what didn’t, and what we think a movie needs in order to earn “classic rom-com” status. We discuss Jennifer Lopez’s performance, her chemistry with Brett Goldstein, whether the romance itself actually worked, and the scenes that left us absolutely FLABBERGASTED. Along the way, we end up having a bigger conversation about British vs. American rom-coms, differences in humor, and whether men and women tend to approach romance stories differently. We also unpack the film’s mixed audience reception, and whether it successfully balances romance and comedy. As always, we don’t hold back. You’ll hear our honest, unfiltered thoughts. Come debrief with us and share your thoughts, too! Did Office Romance work for you? Did you like the episode and want to show us some love? Don’t forget to follow and leave us a review! Xoxo, CMWTK Join us next week for our review on "Every Year After", now streaming on Prime Video.
