378. Our Lady of Mount Carmel - Divine Intimacy Meditations

Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The interior soul is invited to follow Mary into the depths of the contemplative life, where Carmel signifies a garden of virtues. By silencing the noise of the passions, the heart becomes a solitary sanctuary for the divine presence. This meditation presents Mary’s soul as an "oasis of silence and peace" amidst worldly tumult. Here, the soul finds its true security in the shadow of God, transformed into a garden where the Lord finds His delights and our supernatural life achieves its flowering. Contemplation and Castanets is a podcast dedicated to Carmelite spirituality and the life of the Carmelite family. We explore the teachings of St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, and other Carmelite saints, along with topics related to contemplative prayer, mental prayer, Carmelite formation, OCDS life, religious vocations, Carmelite legislation, and the mission of Carmelite friars, nuns, and seculars. Whether you are discerning a vocation, living the Carmelite charism, or simply seeking a deeper life of prayer, you’ll find reflections, discussions, and resources rooted in the rich tradition of Carmel. 241. Faith - Divine Intimacy Meditations

Meditation 241, “Faith,” describes this virtue as a mystical entry into the Divine way of knowing. Elevating the intellect above sensory perceptions, faith acts as a celestial clarity and a “beginning of eternal life,” as St. Thomas Aquinas teaches. This participation in the Trinity's interior life shifts our focus from passing shadows to the transcendent, allowing the soul to share in the thoughts of its Creator. This theological elevation finds its testing ground in daily duty, where the believer walks in a stripped, unadorned trust. Even when the senses feel obscured by God’s blinding radiance, one can find Him by remaining recollected while performing ordinary tasks. By embracing this obscure communion during the workday, the soul transforms its perspective and prepares for the Beatific Vision. --- Contemplation and Castanets is a podcast dedicated to Carmelite spirituality and the life of the Carmelite family. episode 240. Divine Omnipotence - Divine Intimacy Meditations artwork

240. Divine Omnipotence - Divine Intimacy Meditations

In Meditation 240, “Divine Omnipotence,” we contemplate God’s absolute sovereignty and His creative fiat. Unlike empty human speech, the divine word is infallibly effective, drawing good even from evil. This infinite power, always at the service of His goodness, establishes the foundation for the interior life, inviting the receptive heart to rest in His constant action. Our radical impotence requires divine concurrence in every act; as John, Chapter Fifteen, Verse Five reminds us, apart from God, we can do nothing. Yet this poverty is our strength. Following Saint Teresa of Jesus, who knew that alone she could do nothing but with Jesus she could do all things, we find that humility unlocks omnipotence. Today, briefly pause during a routine duty to consciously lean on His help. episode 239. Divine Providence - Divine Intimacy Meditations artwork

239. Divine Providence - Divine Intimacy Meditations

In this episode, we reflect on Meditation 239, “Divine Providence,” from Divine Intimacy. The hosts consider how Christian confidence rests in God's wise and personal care, even when the purpose of a difficult circumstance remains hidden. Their discussion connects Providence with faith, patience, and the freedom to meet ordinary responsibilities without surrendering to anxiety. This reflection invites us to place one present uncertainty before God and renew a deliberate act of trust. It does not promise an outcome or speak beyond the selected sources.
