In this special episode of Conversations with CASAs, we take you inside the Missouri CASA Conference held in Rolla, Missouri, where CASAs from across the state gathered to share experiences, insights, and inspiration. The event featured a welcome reception, keynote speaker Anita Brooks discussing personality perspectives, and engaging sessions on de-escalation and understanding addiction. More importantly, this episode highlights the powerful conversations I had with CASAs, both new and seasoned, who share a common goal—to make foster children's voices heard. We explore the emotional challenges and isolation that can sometimes come with being a CASA, as well as the incredible sense of connection and support that conferences like this can bring. Now an independent contractor for Munchausen Support, Jordyn dedicates their work to helping other survivors and raising awareness about this often-misunderstood form of abuse. Munchausen Support, an organization developed with guidance from some of the nation’s leading experts on Munchausen by Proxy, collaborates closely with the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children’s interdisciplinary Munchausen by Proxy Committee. Hannah shares her insights on the Family Works program, which provides in-home support to foster, adoptive, and guardianship families. With a team of specialists, the program offers tailored guidance, advocacy, and education to help parents navigate the complexities of caring for children with trauma histories or elevated needs.
