When God Asks

There are seasons when God asks of us what seems unbearably costly the surrender of loved ones, cherished hopes, or the fruit of long labor and we are tempted to think that life is little more than a series of losses; yet Scripture shows that God never asks before He first gives, and never asks more than He has already bestowed. As Exodus reveals at Sinai, God reminded Israel of His mighty acts of deliverance before calling them to obedience, declaring that their giving was a response to His prior grace. What appears to us as continual taking is, in truth, a divine pattern of investment: God enriches us so that we may give, and every act of faithful surrender is preceded and followed by greater grace. When we yield our lives, we do not lose them, but invest them in God’s faithfulness, trusting His promise that what is given up in faith will be returned beyond measure. Thus God asks, not to impoverish us, but because He has already given abundantly and will continue to give, turning our sacrifices into eternal gain and calling forth praise rather than complaint.

Seeds or Weeds

You don’t get vegetables by pulling weeds you get them by planting seeds. Yet millions spend their lives fighting what’s wrong in culture, church, and society, expecting good fruit without ever sowing what is right. Yes, the weeds matter, but a cleared field without seed just grows more weeds. Scripture is clear: you reap what you sow. If there’s no planting of God’s Word, no building of Christian families, churches, schools, and faithful work, there will be no harvest only decline. Stop staring at the wind, stop cursing the weeds, and start sowing. The question is simple: are you planting seeds, or just fighting weeds?

The Relaxed Man

We live in an age medicated for tension but starved for peace. Surrounded by constant noise, bad news, and pressure, we try to treat anxiety with pills while ignoring the deeper problem God is not enough in our thinking. Scripture is clear: a relaxed, trusting heart brings life and health, while a broken, anxious spirit wears the body down. We have more comfort than any generation before us, yet less peace, because we absorb the world’s problems instead of resting in God’s rule. True rest doesn’t come from numbing the symptoms, but from feeding on God’s Word, committing our ways to Him, and learning again how to trust.
