This podcast details the operations and achievements of the Seva International Foundation in Sri Lanka and do not contain any information regarding "audio generated". The core focus of the organization is an educational assistance program, which has successfully completed one year of operation since May of the previous year. This program offers monthly educational scholarships to 1829 students from 1003 Women-Led families—specifically those who are widowed (615 families) or abandoned by their husbands (388 families)—across 12 districts in Sri Lanka, including Batticaloa, Nuwara Eliya, and Ratnapura. To celebrate the success of the program and facilitate experience sharing, the foundation held district-level gatherings known as "Seva Kutumba Sangamam", with large attendance at events like the one in Batticaloa, which drew 1,061 participants, including mothers, students, and well-wishers, and gatherings in Nuwara Eliya, Mannar, and Kilinochchi. Furthermore, the foundation collaborates with local authorities on broader welfare initiatives, participating in Early Childhood Development discussions and presenting the education assistance project to 50 district health workers in Batticaloa to ensure children receive holistic care and nutrition. International support and motivation were also received during visits from figures such as Shri Anil Varthak Ji, International Advisor of Sewa International, and Shri Madhav Durbha Ji, President of Sewa USA Atlanta Chapter, who met with beneficiaries and volunteers.

Status of Mental Health in Nepal - Problems & Solutions

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines mental health as an individual's ability to cope with life's activities, understand their capabilities, and engage in good learning and work, recognizing it as a critical global priority given that over 100 crore people worldwide suffer from related issues. In Nepal, approximately 4% (11 lakh people) of the population suffer from mental problems, yet only about 23% receive treatment due to resource scarcity, extremely low governmental funding ($0.05 USD per person annually), and strong social stigma that often views disorders as "madness" or the "effect of evil spirits," delaying crucial care. Mental health issues are exacerbated by socio-economic stress, trauma from conflict and disasters, and separation due to foreign employment, with high suicide rates reported; consequently, the government is implementing the 2020 National Mental Health Strategy to provide free psychological services and collaborating with NGOs to expand hotlines and community awareness campaigns.

Teaching Strategies Enhance Students' Mathematics Achievements

This quasi-experimental study investigated whether actively training third-grade students in effective study skills improves their math performance, addressing the observation that academic weakness often correlates with unfamiliarity with learning strategies. The research focused on teaching both cognitive strategies (tools for learning, like rehearsal and organizing) and meta-cognitive strategies ("knowing for knowing," which supervise cognitive tools) using methods such as PQ4R and MURDER. The findings, confirmed via T-tests, demonstrated that students trained with an emphasis on these study strategies exhibited significantly better math performance and higher academic achievement (the experiment group's mean post-test score was 15.36, higher than the control group's 14.19), supporting the conclusion that teaching these strategies eases and improves the quality of mathematical learning.
