Acerca de End of the Roaders

End of the Roaders is a podcast hosted by Grizz, a grizzly bear from Alaska who somehow ended up sneaking into the human world, working with tech bros, sitting in on Zoom calls, and picking up a few opinions along the way. Now he's pointing the microphone back at the humans. The show is about people who live, think, or work at the edges. The ones who got far enough away from the noise to see it clearly. End of the road towns, off-grid thinkers, weird experts, quiet builders, big names willing to drop the script. Grizz wants the real version, not the polished one. He likes to poke. He likes to prod. He plays with his food a little before he gets to the point. In an age of AI, sameness, and recycled takes, End of the Roaders is a search for what is actually true and what actually matters. It is a bear's-eye view of the human experience. Funny, sharp, occasionally tender, and always honest about the fact that we are all just little creatures on a small planet trying to leave it a little better than we found it. Or as Grizz puts it: a big bear hug for humankind.

A Bear Hug for Humankind: Signal Above the Noise in the Age of AI with Aleck McCathie

Bear, host, and recovering tech-bro consultant J. 'Grizz' Leigh Bahr, Ph.D., launches End of the Roaders with the guy who helped him get the show off the ground. In this first episode of End of the Roaders, Grizz sits down with Aleck McCathie of Podcasts That Matter for a conversation that runs both directions. Aleck interviews Grizz about how a bear from the end of the road in Alaska ended up sneaking into the human world, on Zoom calls with tech founders, and at parties he was never supposed to be at. Then Grizz flips the tables and interviews Aleck. Grizz traces his arc from the Alaskan tundra to a California environmental firm to consulting work across the tech boom and explains the bug inside a bear that wants to make the world a better place before some hunter turns him into bear steak. Along the way: why hibernation might be a smarter idea earlier than 65, the difference between a stick that gets you berries and a stick you put in a hornet's nest, and what AI looks like from the perspective of a bear who has watched humans for a long time. Then Aleck talks about signal above the noise, the worlds he is carrying around in his head, and what it costs when people use AI as a crutch instead of a tool. Tune in to hear what Grizz means when he says the show is a bear hug for humankind.
