This week I had the opportunity to spend time with a group of Navy Cadets, and I left feeling incredibly hopeful about the future. What struck me wasn’t their uniforms or ranks. It was their confidence, communication skills, sense of belonging, and willingness to step outside their comfort zones. Programs like cadets, team sports, and other youth leadership initiatives don’t just create future leaders. They help young people develop identity, purpose, resilience, support systems, and the confidence to use their voice.
