Description

Day 36 is ready, and today’s lesson gives every honest believer something they may not have known they needed: permission. Permission to acknowledge the ache of living in a broken world without concluding that something has gone spiritually wrong. Romans 8:18-25 shows us that Paul himself carried this inner weight, and that the Spirit dwelling in him did not remove it. What the Spirit gave him instead was perspective, hope, and the confident assurance that what God has promised through Jesus Christ will absolutely be delivered. If you are new to this Substack, welcome. We are in the final stretch of a 40-day journey through Romans 6, 7, and 8, and there are just four days remaining. We will be offering this study again in the future, and we would love for you to join us from the very beginning next time. In the meantime, all previous lessons are available in the archive. The Day 36 study guide is here: https://forms.gle/RXSJyqBaVU2AjYCx5 [https://forms.gle/RXSJyqBaVU2AjYCx5] As always, earlier lessons are available in the archive if you are catching up. Groaning With Hope

Romans 8:18-25 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. This is a public episode.
