Hope Doesn't Justify the Situation.....but it Might Help

Hope is the confident expectation that something good can come out of something bad. It doesn't explain the bad and it definitely doesn't justify the situation. But God is doing something good in the midst of the negative and when we recognize that, it can at least help take the sting off the situation.

You Don't Have to Go to Church to Be a Christian

I jump around a bit sharing some stories of how God showed up and reminded me to focus on Him during my trip last week, to telling the very long story of how I went into ministry and my time at Wagoner First. Finally, I end up with explaining how much my church means to me and how we need you too! You don't have to go to church to be a Christian, but by golly, we need you here! And you need the church - so come join me on Sunday. Or find you a church a little less awesome than mine......wherever you end up, you need to be there as much as they need you!

Why am I still surprised when God does miracles?

God still does miracles......so why does it surprise me every time? We've been praying for it, and God made it happen! A new clinical trial opened up and I share all the amazing details. Living in the Power of the Holy Spirit

Far too often I try to do things on my own. Lately, I'm learning what it means to live in the power of the Holy Spirit. Yesterday, as I was teaching kids about the Holy Spirit I was reminded that it's only through the power of the Spirit that I'm able to do anything - let alone make it through the day. In today's episode I share a little of that teaching, but also challenge us all to surrender to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to do His job and help us navigate life.

Zooming In & Out

My terminal diagnosis is a blessing to me! I are reminded daily of the limited timeline I have. And that helps to make sure I pay attention to what's most important......most of the time. Jesus said, "What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?" I think too many of us might be losing our soul because we're so focused on day-to-day things and haven't zoomed out to examine the big picture.
