Leading a Family Healthcare Legacy: Dr. Michael McCarthy’s Family Business Story.

In this episode of Family Business Diaries, we sit with a dedicated and knowledgeable healthcare provider whose focus on helping Families with their health is evident in every aspect of his career. Meet Dr. Michael McCarthy, CEO of Sinel Specialist Family Hospital, a world-class healthcare facility. Sinel is a 44-year-old family business started by his Father. His father established the business in an intimate house in Tema, transforming it into a consulting room with a specific goal of catering specifically to women. Dr. McCarthy also serves as a founder of Vine Christian Schools with his wife, Georgette McCarthy. Over the past 21 years, they have worked as a couple to create an environment where children receive excellent education and a strong foundation in Christian values. Dr. McCarthy, a second-generation leader, joined Sinel full-time in January 2010. Upon assuming his leadership role, he recognized the need for strategic reinvention to align the business with its core values and prepare it for future growth, including the creation of a digitally connected modern hospital. As part of his initiative, he integrated "FAMILY" into the company's name. This was a move, signaling a stronger focus on multi-generational continuity and excellence, effectively bridging the company's heritage with modern standards.
