Naz is finishing a BA Fine Art degree at Central Saint Martins and has spent the past months exploring systems of social control and surveillance through their practice. “More recently combining my research of consumerist mechanisms in public and private spheres, with the intrinsic relationship with digital technologies. From LUVA Gallery: "In this episode we share and discuss the work of Lydia Poole, a contemporary artist from Yorkshire and a current DPS student at Central Saint Martins. For the past year Lydia has been a member of the LUVA Gallery team. The video work discussed in the podcast, is described as ‘A four-part woven narrative of the conflict between mind and the sublime; the internal and the external. Referencing fictional tragedies and Romanticised fables of drownings to map volatile exchanges between bodies of water and our bodies (of water)’. This episode explores the work ‘Should we fish it out/casting the sea’ by LDVA members Zoe Horne and artist Imogen Lee. The piece was made during a DPS residency in Cyprus. “Zoe’s practice follows the leaky threshold of inside and outside. In this journey to the sea, the process of casting collages together the bodies of Zoe Horne, Imogen Lee and the sea. Excavating the casts from the sand reveals creatures which could function as architectural models, sea monsters or alien landscapes. Second episode in the LUVA gallery take-over of the DPS Podcast; This episode is a crit like discussion of a sound piece created by artist Fran Hayes, titled 'Sausage Porridge'. The discussion is a recording from a zoom meeting where Fran shared the work with the LUVA team. About Fran Hayes: “ Sausage Porridge is a brain fart. An accumulation of thoughts and feelings from both personal and wider reflections over the pandemic. I find writing these texts a productive way to process information and am often intrigued myself by what comes out using the act of cooking as a catalyst I begin to dissect the rhythms of my world” - Fran Hayes.
