Gao’s English Journey | Japanese Beginner
In this episode, I share a small but meaningful experience from this week. I practiced English on Duolingo every day for one year. I was proud of my consistency, but honestly, I did not feel that my speaking ability improved very much. So I decided to try something new. I joined a language exchange group on Facebook and looked for people who want to practice English and Japanese together. Two wonderful women replied to my post, and I had a short eight-minute conversation with one of them before picking up my daughter from daycare. Even though it was a very short conversation, it changed how I feel about learning English. For the first time, I felt that I wanted to learn English not just as a skill, but as a way to connect with people. In this episode, I talk about language exchange, small pockets of time in daily life, and how even eight minutes can make a difference. New episodes are released every Friday morning.
