The Holy Trinity - John Gill, Session 1; The Historical Introduction; Smiles Welch

John Gill was a pastor for 51 years in England, at The Goatyard Chapel, which was originally pastored by Benjamin Keach, then later pastored by Charles Haddon Spurgeon (in a new location, called the Metropolitan Tabernacle). In 1769, two years before he went on to be with the Lord, Gill published the first ever systematic theology that was written by a Baptist. It was entitled "A Body of Doctrinal Divinity", and is still highly respected and used by pastors, scholars, and theologians today. In 2025 Particular Baptist Heritage Books took an excerpt from the first section of that large work of Gill's and published it in a book all by itself, which is entitled "The Holy Trinity". This class series is a class on the doctrine of God. We are using Gill's "The Holy Trinity" book to teach through this great doctrine, taking Gill's words and teaching them in our own words, over multiple weeks.
