Description

Matt Clifford, who has been with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office since 2000, is now Ada County’s 39th sheriff. Clifford was appointed by the Ada County Board of Commissioners about a month after the former sheriff retired suddenly on May 31, 2021. The Ada County Sheriff  is responsible for the largest law enforcement agency in the State of Idaho with almost 900 employees and an over $100 million budget. The sheriff’s duties include policing unincorporated Ada County and the cities of Eagle, Kuna and Star. The sheriff is also responsible for managing the 1,116-bed Ada County Jail — and community supervision of about 2,000 offenders. The sheriff is also responsible for Ada County Misdemeanor Probation, runs the county-wide 911 Emergency Dispatch Center and fulfills a variety of other statutory and cooperative duties. Sheriff Clifford has worked as detention and patrol deputy, K9 handler, patrol sergeant, transports sergeant, and as a lieutenant who served as Chief of Eagle Police during his tenure with the ACSO before he assumed the role of sheriff. Matt is humbled by the outpouring of support from family, friends, employees of the ACSO, and community members who supported his bid to be sheriff. “I work every day to make Ada County a safer place to live, work, and play —and the support from the community is what makes it possible for the ACSO to overcome challenges and provide the best service to our citizens.  I am proud to be your sheriff.” Here We Have Idaho is a local radio show heard on KSPD 790 AM and 94.5 FM [https://www.790kspd.com/]at 4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Here We Have Idaho is a  show focusing on celebrating Idaho and all that makes Idaho great.  Hear We Have Idaho will focus on the issues and events that impact Idaho’s citizens and families.  Each week we will visit those that are writing Idaho’s story and keeping the spirit of our state song alive with hosts Victor Miller and  Tom Luna. https://www.790kspd.com/here-we-have-idaho/ [https://www.790kspd.com/here-we-have-idaho/]
