When the book of Romans was penned there were a large number of people with a skewed view of salvation. They believed that salvation came through circumcision and living by the law of God. In Romans, the apostle Paul makes it abundantly clear that we are saved by grace through faith. In his letter to the Romans, Paul was adamant about our position in Christ - that we are saved by grace and grace alone. He declared that our status here on earth - social or otherwise - has absolutely no bearing on our position in heaven.
