Episode 15: Updates on the Lobbying for Philippine History Education in High School [SEASON FINALE]

This is the 15th episode of our podcast, HistoREAL: Ang Katotohanan sa ating Kasaysayan at Lipunan. For our 15th episode, we will be discussing the need for Philippine history education in the high school level. We will also be discussing the legislative lobbying of the High School Philippine History Movement in the House of Representatives of the Philippine congress. The lobbying advocates for the return of Philippine history in the high school Social Studies curriculum. This episode shall also serve as the season 1 finale of the podcast. Our next episode will happen mid-2022.

Episode 12: The History of Quezon City as the Nation's Capital

This is the twelfth episode of our podcast, HistoREAL: Ang Katotohanan sa ating Kasaysayan at Lipunan. Para sa episode na ito, tatalakayin natin ang kasaysayan ng Quezon City bilang kabisera ng Pilipinas. Pag-uusapan dito kung papaano ito naging kabisera ng bansa at papaano ito nabuo bilang isang lungsod. We will explore how Quezon City became the capital of the Philippines (1948 - 1976). Political history, urban planning, and sociocultural aspects of Quezon City as a “capital” will be discussed in this episode. We will also touch upon how Metro Manila became a largescale cosmopolitan entity that became the political and economic enter of today’s Philippines.

We will explore the comparative political history of the United States of America and the Philippines. We will look into institutional and cultural similarities of its sociopolitical institutions while reviewing its effects on its citizens. The discussion will be centered from the perspective of an English literature teacher and history enthusiast, veteran teacher Mr. Frederick Tomas of the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School.
