Holy Ground Life with Teresa L Hoffman
What is the big picture and what is your personal purpose in it? Not knowing the answer to this is stressful. There is a beautiful rest when we are fulfilling our purpose. Jesus wants to draw you into that rest. As this series draws to a close, my delightful purpose in it has been to encourage you, build you up, remind you who you are in Christ and where you stand today in His Kingdom. My purpose as I lead this study is to gather truth and gird you up with it. Gird is definitely a “King-Jamesy” word! After I wrote that I did a little research so I could understand what I just said (remember in grade school when they said “don’t assume!”). To “gird-up” means to wrap long robes around your waist so you can move, run, or fight without tripping. This can also mean to strengthen someone’s mind. “Gird up the loins of your mind and be sober, and rest your hope on GRACE.” 1 Peter 1:13 KJV We were given the robe of righteousness when we believed in Jesus. He purchased this for you personally. We wrap the robe of righteousness close to us. It becomes our identity and we hold it tightly around us. When we know who we are, we can move in our purpose, run, and fight off the enemy’s lies with ease. Get rid of the slack. We are called to tighten up each other’s identity in Christ. It is in our spiritual DNA to do this. Our need to embrace and carry one another’s burdens in prayer is in our spiritual DNA. Our need for unity and to operate in a spiritual family is what we were re-born into. We were called OUT of the independent/survival-mode state of being a son or daughter of Adam and INTO being enfolded together into Christ and called children of the Most High God. Our destiny, purpose, and inheritance is interconnected with each other. There is a community oneness that brings us into our personal God-given purpose that we must nourish. Jesus’ new-creation gift birthed us into Oneness: one body, one purpose. We don’t go this alone. Kingdom community is a Kingdom reality. It is an interconnected vineyard. One vine, Jesus Christ, gives life to us all. In this series, we have encouraged each other to pursue and invest, daily, our deeply personal oneness with our Savior. One of the many benefits of this is a oneness with one another. We need Jesus and we need each other. Our oneness is the desire of Jesus. Jesus’ prayer: I pray for them to all be joined together as one, even as you and I, Father, are one. I pray for them to become one with us so that the world will recognize that you have sent me. For the very glory you have given to me I have given them so that they will be joined together as one and experience the same unity that we enjoy. You live fully in me and now I live fully in them so that they will experience perfect unity, and the world will be convinced that you have sent me, for they will see that you love each one of them with the same passionate love that you have for me. John 17: 21-23 TPT Before Jesus entered the worst week of His life, He prayed for our oneness. The glory He deposited in you was for oneness. Jesus’ gift of salvation is revealed to the world because of our oneness. Just before He went to be tortured on the cross for us…He had oneness in the body on His mind and heart. He was looking to the Kingdom of God on earth…not in Heaven. Isaiah prophesied about our miraculous oneness as the Kingdom of God on earth. Now, it shall come to pass in the latter days that the MOUNTAIN of the Lord’s House shall be established on the top of mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and all the nations will flow to it. Isaiah 2:2 This mountain is the Kingdom of God on earth. It is established by God and founded on Jesus Christ. Isaiah 28:16 says, “I am laying in Zion (God’s Holy Mountain on earth) a stone”. Come to Him, the Living Stone-though He was rejected and discarded by men but chosen by God and is priceless in God’s sight. Come and be His living stones who are continually being built assembled into a sanctuary for God. For now you serve as holy priests, offering up spiritual sacrifices that He readily accepts through Jesus Christ. For it says in scripture, “Look! I lay a cornerstone in Zion, a chosen , priceless stone! And whoever believes in Him will certainly not be disappointed”. 1 Peter 2:4-6 TPT We are that Holy Mountain! We are the living stones that have been built up upon our foundation, Jesus Christ! We are not many denominational mountains. We are one. We are not scattered temples but one glorious church being built upon the foundation of Jesus. It is time to wake up to “oneness”. It is time to shift from being broken and fractured to being empowered in unity. ONE HOLY MOUNTAIN. A fragmented church is in direct opposition to the will of God. Jesus’ heart cry in John 17 was not for denominations, separate houses of God founded on men’s opinions. Every denomination was formed by disagreement. Jesus said “I pray for them to become ONE … so that the world will recognize that you have sent me.” The splits have been about leaders leaning on their own understanding and self-sufficiency. Opinions about salvation, baptism, and communion broke the BODY. Division comes against the prayer of Jesus. The prophecy from Isaiah was not “many holy mountains”—it is ONE and the nations will stream into IT. Am I calling for no more denominations? No. Find your small community that you call spiritual family by yielding to the Holy Spirit… plug in and serve. When the “church police” start putting down other believers and other denominations, don’t partake in it. Don’t be a part of breaking the body of Christ. Make a decision to stop criticizing other believers. When we function in oneness it is the ultimate joy to Jesus and the ultimate proof to those who are lost that He is their only salvation. As a prisoner (entangled in the life of Jesus) of the Lord, I plead with you to walk holy, in a way suitable to your high rank, given to you in your divine calling. With tender humility and quiet patience, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love toward one another especially toward those who may try your patience. Be faithful to guard the sweet harmony of the Holy Spirit among you in the bonds of peace, being one body and one spirit, as you were all called into the same glorious hope… For the Lord God is one, and so are we, for we share in one faith, one baptism, and one Father. And He is the perfect Father who leads us all, works through us all, and lives in us all! Ephesians 4:1-6 Then, the Holy Spirit instructs us through Paul’s words (Ephesians 4:13-14) that we each were given gifts and ministries that are to build up fellow believers. These grace ministries will continue to function in the Kingdom until we all obtain ONENESS of faith. This oneness is a perfect reflection of Jesus. The gifts are for oneness! They are not for power. The gifts will not be needed when we actually become one! Unity cannot exist in shared rules or organized structures. It will fail. But unity CAN exist eternally when love is present-the sacrificial and active (agape) love only found in Jesus. We live in a world culture that places a high value on individual accomplishments. But Kingdom culture is love. Jesus is the center of the Kingdom of God and He values oneness above all. 1 Corinthians 11:26-30 is a communion scripture but hidden within it is the message of oneness in the body. It states that if you take the body of Christ (communion) in the wrong spirit, you are dishonoring the body. That wrong spirit is an independent, every-man-for-himself spirit and a spirit of division among family. He also says “For continually eating and drinking with a wrong spirit will be judgement upon yourself by not recognizing the body. This insensitivity is why many of you are weak, ill, and dying. If you do not sit in judgement of others, you will avoid judgement yourself.” “Recognizing the body”. Our lives are part of one body, one purpose. When we are aware of this, it brings healing to us personally and corporately. With all this in mind, how do we deal with difficult people who also believe in Jesus? Our answer is in Galatians chapter six. “My beloved friends, when you see a believer taken over by a fault, may the one who overflows with the Holy Spirit seek to restore him. Win him over with gentle words, which will open his heart to you and will keep you from exalting yourself over him. Love empowers us to fulfill the law of the Anointed One as we carry each other’s troubles." Galatians 6: 1-2 TPT It is not will power that produces unity. It is the Holy Spirit. Turn to Him and yield to His wisdom. Wait before speaking. Pray. Fill yourself to overflowing with God reality and God perspective. We can’t do this without the Holy Spirit. Peter was filled with fear and fractured when Jesus was crucified. He was in self-protection mode. Then He went into the prayer room. He walked out of that room filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit. He stepped into His purpose ready to take his place in the body. He began to do what he was created to do. The same is for you and I. Filled with the Holy Spirit we walk in our God-given purpose and fulfill His prayer for oneness. In Jesus, we were all baptized together into holiness. Nothing we could do could increase that holiness. We will function and look like Him… together, not separate. That holiness, we all live within, is salt to the world. It makes them thirsty for the TRUTH. Our unity is a supernatural reflection of how God lives in unity. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit… God in three persons, perfectly united. We were made in His image to be beautifully interconnected. We have become His poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny He has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it. Ephesians 2:10 TPT You are beautifully unique and necessary to the body of Christ- God’s Holy Mountain on the earth… that also extends to His heaven. We function as one. We have one more session in this series. Learning about His Kingdom on earth with you has been pure joy. In Christ together, Pastor Teresa Holy Ground Life with Teresa L.
