Description

In the final part of Batavia’s Graveyard, Francisco Pelsaert returns from Java aboard the Sardam to find that Jeronimus Cornelisz has led a reign of terror, murdering more than 216 men, women and children. Only the courage of Wiebe Hayes and his band of survivors, who fought off repeated attacks by the mutineers, prevents Cornelisz from seizing the rescue ship. Cornelisz and his followers are arrested and brutally executed, bringing one of the darkest and most shocking true stories in maritime history to its dramatic end. ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Episode 110 - Batavia's Graveyar part 3 - The Massacre begins.....

What begins as desperation descends into calculated slaughter. Men, women, and children are hunted, drowned, stabbed, and silenced in the night. The sick are executed where they lie. The weak are deemed expendable. Entire groups are lured away and murdered, their deaths hidden beneath lies and shifting sands. Each day, the body count rises as Cornelisz tightens his grip, building a reign of terror fueled by paranoia, power, and the promise of piracy. This episode dives into one of the most horrifying chapters of survival history—a place where humanity fractures, morality vanishes, and the greatest threat is no longer the elements, but each other. ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
