Ted Orme-Claye takes over the hosting role for today's iGaming Daily, sponsored by Optimove, as Ted, Joe Streeter and Viktor Kayed continue their world tour from the comfort of our Manchester studio. First up, they discuss some interesting numbers from Denmark, who after strong growth in March of 2025, now rank fifth globally in terms of regulated online gambling market share. Our panel chat about the Nordic approach to the black market, and what other markets could learn from their ability to shift players back to regulated operations. Onto the UK, where rumours are abound that Keir Starmer plans to dissolve the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, something that would be a significant change for the UK industry. The guys chat about where the industry might go, where political responsibility might lie, and whether this could lead to confusing and convoluted fragmentation. The penultimate destination on today's tour is Thailand, where they discuss the ongoing casino legislation, a story with multiple moving parts. Ted, Joe and Vik bring you up to date with the story, including committee-ception as the Senate Special Committee establish two new sub-committees, the significant due diligence involved, and the added dynamic of Chinese interest in the story, with concerns it may impact Macau's status as the home of Asian gambling. Lastly, we head to Botswana, following this week's SBC News story highlighting the African nation as the potential new boom market on the continent. Recently, ten new licenses were handed out, including one to Betway. Botswana is considered to be a gateway market to the wider region, and the guys also touch on South Africa who have recently introduced a National Gambling Policy Council. Joe Streeter returns to the host's chair for today's episode of iGaming Daily, sponsored by Optimove, and he's joined by the SBC News team of Senior Journalist Viktor Kayed, and Editor Ted Orme-CLaye for a discussion on an ever-juicy topic, UK regulation. The guys discuss the recent letter from a UK parliamentary select committee to the Labour government, expressing concerns that the current Gambling Act review and its reforms have not adequately addressed gambling-related harms and advertising saturation. With demand for a revisit of the review, and concerns over the implementation of the RET Levy, are we set for a review of the review? Our panel discuss the select committee's letter, the reason for the demand, the increased pressure on Labour and Keir Starmer, the advertising and sponsorships question that just won't go away, gambling as a public health issue, the RET Levy and it's future, and what the potential abolition of NHS England means for everything. Ever wondered what it takes to put on an SBC Event? Today's Episode of iGaming Daily goes under the hood of the inaugural SBC Summit Americas, which kicks off this week in Fort Lauderdale, with one of the key names behind making it happen - Aidan Brain, SBC's Vice President of Conference Production. Aidan takes Joe through the whole process, from the inception of the event itself, when they started planning the agenda, the extensive preparation lasting more than one year, the process involved in planning the event, and importance of industry feedback. Aidan also speaks about the choice of location, why Fort Lauderdale works for both the US and Latin American audiences, and the advantages with more predictable good weather. Joe also asks about the logistical complexity of organising the event, and Aidan discusses the industry collaboration involved, the importance of timing, maximising the opportunity presented by next year's FIFA World Cup, and integrating English, Spanish and Portuguse speakers in one event. They also chat about the conference agenda, including the high-level speaker roster, the First Pitch startup competition, the challenges in constructing an agenda that appeals to the diverse attendee base, and building it around transcendental knowledge. A busy week in Latin America gives our team a chance to run you through a bunch of fascinating stories from Brazil to Chile to Peru to Argentina. This is the LatAm lowdown on iGaming Daily, sponsored by Optimove. With Fernando Noodt in the host's chair, joined by a rotating cast of experts including Ricardo Assis and Ana Maria Menezes from Brazil, and Lu Gando and Damian Martinez from Argentina, we kick thing off in Brazil to cover two major court rulings. Firstly in São Paulo, a court ruling against Betano forced the operator to lift a betting limit on a customer's account. The judge found no evidence of problem gambling, fraud, match-fixing, or terms breaches and ordered Betano to pay court costs and legal fees. While 400 or so miles north, in Minas Gerais, the court ordered B365 to reactivate a user's account that was blocked apparently due to the better's profitable performance The court found the platform's contract clause allowing unilateral account termination to be abusive, violating principles like good faith and contractual balance under Brazil's consumer protection code. The precedent is set, arbitrary rulings can be challenged through the courts in Brazil, and moves that operators have made all over the world, might not wash in the new regulated market. Is this a good thing? Or could this prove problematic? What impact does this have on problem gambling? And how will operators deal with this uncertainty? Elsewhere in LatAm, our Spanish speakers tag in to discuss an ongoing collusion investigation in Chile, involving casino operators Marina del Sol, Enjoy, and Dreams. An appeal to revoke the existing licenses of the three operators by Corporación Mayor, was rejected by the justice system but the push for a ban on future bids continues amidst ongoing bidding process. In Peru, Illegal gambling operations are a significant concern since the industry was regulated in February last year, Authorities have intensified oversight, resulting in the closure of illegal establishments and the removal of 50% of illegal websites from the Peruvian market, reducing the supply of illegal gambling on digital platforms and applications by 40%. Our experts bring you up to speed on the state of play in Peru. And finally in Argentina, Betano are back, but this time in a much more positive story. Kaizen Gaming's Betano brand has reached a major sponsorship agreement with iconic Argentine football club River Plate, The deal is reportedly for three seasons at approximately $6 million per year. This partnership is expected to significantly increase Betano's exposure, especially through River Plate's participation in the Copa Libertadores and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Jessica Welman is back in the host's chair for today's episode of iGaming Daily, sponsored by Optimove, for a discussion on a constantly developing topic. Joined as always by Charlie Horner, Jess is back to her favourite topic in the world, event contracts and Kalshi. There's been a significant development, and as it happens, another one after we finished recording. As Jess and Charlie explain, the CFTC filed a motion to dismiss he appeal court case concerning election event contracts offered by Kalshi. After arguing against these contracts in January, the CFTC has now indicated they wish to drop the case. And at roughly 5PM Eastern yesterday, the DC Court approved the dismissal. So, what does this mean? Luckily the rest of the podcast is not yet out of date, as Jess & Charlie discuss whether this suggests a lighter regulatory touch by the CFTC, and whether this could lead to a wide range of contracts being self-certified quickly by various groups, open the door to more than just sports betting, and highlight the internal upheaval at the CFTC. They also touch on the concerns expressed by the NFL and MLB, particularly around market manipulation. In the second half of the pod, things are no less chaotic. Montana has advanced what is described as the first state-level law specifically designed to crack down on sweepstakes gaming on online sites, and its expected to become law. The language is described as "very broad" and designed to go after the dual currency model typically used in sweepstakes gaming, but could this inadvertently impact other things, such as loyalty systems at McDonald's and Starbucks?
