As we come to the closing of Colossians, we get valuable insight into the relational life of probably the most significant figure in the church following Christ's resurrection. This final personal greeting helps us see that the effective gospel-life, the fruitful Christian life, is inevitably relational. It's messy. It bruises. It is inconvenient. But, the word "authority" today often has significantly negative connotations. But authority is not a threat to human flourishing in scripture - it's necessary to it!
