Guiding Principles of Cultural Proficiency: Relying on your Core Values

What are you core values?  How do you show up as an educator?  Does the organization in which you work do what they say they do? During this episode, the authors of "Leading through the Lens of Cultural Proficiency" focus on a commitment to planning, collaboration, growth, and improvement.  We present key concepts you need to consider as you plan your "journey" of Cultural Proficiency.  As you consider your role of "being the driver," you will hear about Eaveston School District's commitment to embedding the work of Cultural Proficiency in all aspects of the district in their efforts to increase equitable  outcomes and open doors for all students.

During this episode, the authors of "Leading through the Lens of Cultural Proficiency" focus on what the Four Tools of Cultural Proficiency are and how to apply them in your school organization.  The Tools of Cultural Proficiency include: Overcoming Barriers to Cultural Proficiency, the Guiding Principles of Cultural Proficiency, the Cultural Proficiency Continuum, and the Essential Elements of Cultural Proficiency.  You will hear about Eaveston School District's application of the Tools of Cultural Proficiency and have an opportunity to think about using learning strategies to apply the Tools of Cultural Proficiency  to increase equity, access, and inclusion in your organization.

The Journey to Cultural Proficiency

Welcome to the first episode of "Leading through the Lens of Cultural Proficiency."  In this episode, you will hear from authors, Jaime Welborn, Tamika Casey, Keith Myatt, and Randy Lindsey, of the book, "Leading through the Lens of Cultural Proficiency."  We focus on our journeys to Cultural Proficiency and ask you to think about the importance of your own story of leading change in your own school organizations for opening doors for all students.
