Billede af episoden You took a vow of poverty you never signed (Ep. 8)

Description

The money guilt you feel as a Christian woman did not start in you. It is a vow of poverty designed for the cloistered nun that got transferred quietly to every Latina believer over five centuries. And it is costing you, your mother, and your grandmother more than any of you know. This is the biblical theology of money episode for the Christian woman whose hand shakes when she writes the price. You filled out the Evidence File last week. You read it every morning. The voice that said who do you think you are got quieter. You started believing, for the first time in maybe years, that what you have is real and worth charging for. And then you wrote down the price. And your hand shook. Not the same voice this time. A different one. Older. Heavier. The one that says wanting money is the opposite of being faithful. The one that says a real Christian woman serves out of love, not for pay. The one that says if God wants you to have it, He will provide, you do not have to ask. I want to tell you something that took me a long time to figure out. For the first ten years of my business in China, I undercharged. Not by a little. By a lot. I would do a project that should have cost a client between fifteen and twenty thousand dollars. Source the supplier. Visit the factories. Negotiate. Run quality control. Manage the shipping. The whole thing. I would charge four. Sometimes three. I told myself I was being a good Christian. I told myself I was being a good steward. I told myself I was building relationships and serving people. But underneath all of that, there was something else. Every time I had to put a number in an email, my hands got cold. I would write the price. Erase it. Write it again, lower. Send it before I could change my mind. That voice did not start with me. I grew up Catholic. So did most of us. So did most of our mothers and our grandmothers and the women who poured into us. And in the Catholic tradition that shaped Latin America for five hundred years, there is a beautiful, deeply held value of poverty as holiness. The priest takes a vow of poverty. The nun takes a vow of poverty. The saint who gives everything away is the one we put on the wall. Francis of Assisi. Mother Teresa. That is not a small thing. That is a real and beautiful piece of Christian history. I respect it. But here is what happened over time. The vow of poverty was meant for a specific kind of vocation, a specific kind of calling, that involves a specific kind of giving up. And somewhere along the way, the vow that belonged to the cloistered nun and the missionary priest got transferred, quietly, to everyone. To your abuela who felt guilty saving for retirement. To your mom who never charged what she was worth for the alterations she did out of her kitchen. To you the first time you tried to charge a friend for something you knew was worth more than what you asked for. We inherited a vow we never took. And then it got reinforced by one misquoted verse. Money is the root of all evil. That is not what the verse says. First Timothy six ten says the LOVE of money is a root of all kinds of evil. The love. The thing your heart bows down to. Not the money. Not the having. Not the earning. The loving. One word changes everything. In this episode I walk you through the actual biblical theology of money. First Timothy six. Luke eight, where the women funded the ministry of Jesus out of their own resources. Acts eighteen, where Paul made tents to fund his apostolic calling. The verses that the inherited script never let you read all the way through. The free exercise for this episode is The Money Beliefs Mirror. One page. Two columns. In the left column twelve money beliefs that almost every believer I have coached carries. Some you heard from your mother. Some you heard from a pulpit. Some you have been saying to yourself in your own head for so long you forgot they are not in the Bible.

The Reason This Podcast Is Called Freedom to Follow (Season 3 Finale, Ep. 12)

The reason all of this matters is not freedom itself. It is who that freedom is for. In this Season 3 finale of Freedom to Follow Him, Salime shares the deeper mission behind everything you have been building over the last twelve episodes. This is not simply about creating a profitable digital business. It is about building income that allows you to faithfully follow God's calling wherever He leads. Throughout her travels in countries like Thailand, Rwanda, Zambia, and Vietnam, Salime met missionaries serving around the world and discovered a statistic that changed everything: indigenous workers are doing nearly 90% of pioneer missions worldwide, yet they receive only 10% of the funding. That reality became the foundation of the vision behind Latinpreneurs. In this episode, you will discover why digital businesses can become a powerful tool for financing obedience instead of waiting for someone else to fund your calling. You will also hear the final chapter of Gabriela's story. Over the past several episodes, you've watched her build a business from the ground up. What you did not know is that every step had a greater purpose: funding her husband's church plant. Fourteen months after launching her business, her income replaced their family's monthly expenses, allowing both of them to step fully into ministry and plant a Spanish-speaking church in the community God had called them to serve. This episode is a reminder that freedom is not the destination. It is the vehicle that allows you to say yes when God calls. Inside this episode you'll discover: * Why the 90/10 missions statistic matters for Hispanic believers. * How digital businesses can fund long-term Kingdom work. * The final chapter of Gabriela's journey and the church that now exists because of one faithful business. * Why your business can become a tool for obedience instead of simply producing income. * How to reconnect your business with the mission God has placed on your life. This episode also includes the free Season 3 Commitment, a guided reflection that will help you define: * The mission your business will finance. * What you'll do with your first $1,000. * The woman God is shaping you to become. * The reason you refuse to give up on this calling. As Season 3 comes to a close, Salime also shares a personal invitation to pray, reflect on everything you've built, and prepare for what is coming next. After two weeks away, a brand-new season will begin—centered around a project she has been quietly building for nearly a year. Because Freedom to Follow Him has never been about building a business for its own sake. Freedom is not the point. He is.

IS BREAKING FAITHFUL WOMEN — THE THREE-CHANNEL RULE THAT PROTECTS YOU (Ep. 11) artwork

INSTAGRAM IS BREAKING FAITHFUL WOMEN — THE THREE-CHANNEL RULE THAT PROTECTS YOU (Ep. 11)

Do you feel like you have to be on Instagram all day to grow your business? This episode is for you. Many women are walking away from businesses that are actually working—not because they lack clients, but because the algorithm has stolen their peace, focus, and confidence. In this episode, Salime explains why social media should never define your worth or become the center of your business. Starting from public statements made by Mark Zuckerberg about Meta's goal of increasing the amount of time people spend on its platforms, you'll discover why Instagram is designed to capture your attention—and how that can affect your purpose, productivity, and even your spiritual life if you don't set healthy boundaries. But this episode isn't about how to grow on Instagram or go viral. It's about learning how to use social media wisely so it serves your business without consuming your time or your identity. You'll also discover a practical comparison between the influencer model and building a digital business around a real offer. While many creators need thousands of followers to earn a modest income, you'll see why selling your own service can be far more profitable and sustainable. Salime introduces the Three-Channel Rule, a simple strategy for building a business without depending on the algorithm: ✅ One primary channel, where your ideal audience already spends time. ✅ One secondary channel, where you can repurpose your content with minimal effort. ✅ One owned channel, such as your email list or WhatsApp, where you truly own your audience. You'll also learn about the Social Sabbath, a set of practical habits designed to protect your mind and heart while using social media, including setting healthy boundaries around content consumption and putting your relationship with God before the algorithm. You'll also hear Gabriela's story. Instead of chasing every platform, she focused on a simple strategy. By investing in Instagram and WhatsApp rather than trying to be everywhere, she built a real community, replaced her teaching salary, and created a sustainable business without relying on going viral. This episode includes the free resource "Three-Channel Blueprint + Social Sabbath Commitment," a practical tool to help you decide where to focus your efforts, protect your time, and build a business that supports your calling instead of competing with it. Because your business needs a strategy—not an addiction to the algorithm. Next week is the finale. The reason any of this matters. Episode 12 is where I tell you the part of the mission that has been sitting quietly under everything we have built together for twelve weeks. The 90/10 statistic. Gabriela's husband and the church plant. And the reason this podcast has been called Freedom to Follow from day one.
