Lincolnshire Police Plodcast - Episode 11 - Domestic Abuse

"Some people experience domestic abuse 35 to 38 times before they report to police and some people don’t even realise that’s what they are going through…” This is our latest podcast, which brings together specialists in the field to talk about the signs of domestic abuse, the support available and mechanisms in place to help victims. From Lincolnshire Police, Detective Superintendent Rachael Cox is Head of Protecting Vulnerable People and the force lead for domestic abuse. She talks to Ann Canter, the Outreach and Engagement Team Manager for the Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Specialist Service.   Together they cover Clare’s Law, and how this scheme can inform people at risk of the history of an ex, current or future partner. You will also hear about Smartwater - a forensic, traceable liquid security system - which can not only be used as evidence to prove a suspect has been in a certain place, but is also giving victims additional reassurance, and acting as a deterrent to perpetrators. Ann and Rachael also cover some common myths, the subtlety of coercive control, red flag behaviours such as ‘love bombing’ and the support available if you have been affected.
