July marks Limerick’s Pride month, and while this should be a happy occasion that promotes a sense of community and belonging, the opposite still seems to be the case. Labour TD for Limerick City and County, Conor Sheehan, raised the issue of trolling and judgment that is still being targeted at members of the LGBTQ+ community. What supports are in place for Limerick men experiencing coercive control?

Male domestic abuse and coercive control are all too common, so we started digging to see what support is available in Limerick and Live 95's. Tara Byrne was doing a bit of searching and says currently there isn't any dedicated service and she found the closest regional service is in Cork. She spoke to Marie Claire from OSS Cork about what they're seeing on the ground there. Anne Marie Geraghty also spoke to Andrea McDermott, Clinical Manager of Men's Aid, a national service for men experiencing domestic abuse to get her thoughts on the issue.
