Acapella or to the Music: 'Eros'

This podcast episode includes a discussion around writing for music vs writing for acapella performance. I also talk about the inspiration behind my project Agapi & Other Kinds of Love, and how I wrote the scene for Eros. I also go through the process of shooting an acapella Eros video in Athens and then flying to Rhodes to film the music video in a place called Mussolini’s Mansion. I end with why it holds significance to me to film a track about love in half-destroyed residence of a former fascist dictator.

From Third Culture Kids to 'Amber Lights'.

Luka Lesson takes an in-depth look at his poem: Amber Lights - which talks of the loss of his best friend in High School and being stuck 'in between' cultures growing up in Brisbane. Luka reflects on his youth and the first real test of his life: dealing with the death of a friend and how writing helped him to survive that ordeal. This then leads to a conversation about Third Culture Kids, racism in Australia and fatherhood. Joe Williams is a proud Wiradjuri/Wolgalu, First Nations Aboriginal man born in Cowra NSW, Australia. Joe had successful careers ar a professional rugby league player and Welterweight boxer. During his sporting career however, Joe battle with suicidal ideation and Bi Polar Disorder. After a suicide attempt in 2012, Joe began to commit his life to helping other people through issues of adversity, mental illness, addiction, emotional well-being and healing trauma in schools, communities, correctional services, sporting clubs and workplaces through his organisation: The Enemy Within.
