Welcome back to the Mile 40 Podcast! On Episode 190, the conversation focused on breaking new ground in oral health with guest Julian Levine, co-founder of Twice and Smile House in Tribeca. The discussion explored Julian’s journey from a family steeped in dental care and entrepreneurship to pioneering a patient-centered, hospitality-driven approach to dentistry. Several points were raised, including the historical separation of dentistry and medicine, the transformative power of a healthy smile, and the emerging science linking oral care to whole body longevity. Listeners will hear about the origins of the Glow Good Foundation’s dental missions, the values and teamwork behind building mission-driven businesses, and how pushing comfort zones shapes both athletic and professional success. A key theme that emerged was the vital role of community, innovation, and pushing boundaries—not only in personal growth, but in reimagining what dental care can be for the future. Julian Levine is a builder, investor, and operator driven by a deep curiosity around health, performance, and human potential. He is the co-founder of TWICE, an oral wellness company rethinking everyday routines through better ingredients and design, and Smile House, a first-of-its-kind Dental Longevity™ center in Tribeca focused on the connection between oral health and whole-body wellbeing. He began his career in investment banking, advising on mergers and acquisitions in San Francisco and New York, before joining Stripes, a growth equity firm where he invested in technology and consumer businesses. Over the past decade, he has shifted from investing in companies to building them—drawn to the challenge of creating something from nothing and pushing categories forward. A Cornell University graduate and former varsity lacrosse player—reaching the Final Four three times—Julian carries an athlete’s mindset into his work and life: disciplined, competitive, and always evolving. Whether skiing, cycling along the West Side Highway, or stepping into new arenas, he’s motivated by growth and the belief that the best outcomes come from consistently pushing past your comfort zone. At home in New York, he’s a husband, a son, a brother—and a proud owner of a 12-pound Tibetan Spaniel, Bacchus.
