4 - No Use For A Name

This week Josh and Max discuss the band, "No Use For A Name", and their frontman, Tony Sly. They discuss the band, their early years, Tony's solo acoustic stuff, and Tony's death in 2012 and the giant hole he left in punk rock. Max goes deep and discusses his own past with pills, booze, and LSD. Josh give us the lowdown on the DC scene when he was coming up in the DC metro area. Listen all the way to the end and you'll hear a great announcement regarding the future of our sister podcast, "The Stone Gauntlet". Max also gives his opinion on Harry Potter's terrible childhood.

3 - NOFX

We wrote this podcast, it's not too short, it's not too long. It's got competing banter in just the right places. It's got a few "ums" and "ahhs" and I take a little pause, just before I admit dresses are pretty fucking awesome. This week MaxMurder, Josh, and our new co-host, Taylor, discuss the infamoust punk band, NOFX! We talk about Fat Mike's bass playing and his predilection for BDSM. We talk about the rest of the band, "El Hefe" - with an H -, Erik Melvin, and Erik "Smelly" Sandin. We explore the band's founding and make up and their music from "S&M Airlines" and " The Longest Line" through to "So Long and Thanks For All The Shoes". Maybe someday we'll discuss their newer music, but for now we'll stick to what Max knows.

Josh and MaxwellMurder discuss the illustrious career of the punk rock band, Rancid! We do some deep dives into the musicianship of the member of the band:Tim armstrong, one of the best left handed guitarists ever and amazing song writer, Lars Frederiksen, another amazing guitarist and the true "hype man" of Rancid, Matt Freeman, an amazing bass player and singer. These guys and their new drummer, stolen from the band "The Used", Branden Steineckert, who is kicking ass and taking names. 1 - Operation Ivy and The East bay Punk Scene

Cousins, best friends, and now, co-hosts, Max Murder and Dr Nick discuss one of the most influential bands to come out of Northern California's East Bay Area, producing the LP, "Energy" before breaking up shortly after its release. The amazing and unifying force that was, Operation Ivy! We touch on our the forming of the band within the scene that centered around the community run, infamous, innovative, and progressive all ages Berkeley, CA club, 924 Gilman Street Theater.  We do a deep dive into the only LP the band released and how it was a huge leap in what could be done with a DIY operation under the independent record label, Lookout Records. We mention the US tour that the band embarked on, before recording Energy, that shaped how tour support could be accomplished with a small operation by the scene's logistical genius and awesome human, Kamala Parks. We dive head first into our favorite songs on the album and how some drastically changed the trajectory of our lives. Dr Nick explains how "The Crowd" probably drove him to obtain his PhD in English from an Ivy League college and Max explains how "Sound System" first got him into punk rock.
