The first thing seen when entering the place of worship is the bronze altar, reminding us that access to God begins with sacrifice. Before fellowship, before nearness, before the deeper places of worship, there had to be a substitutionary sacrifice. Exodus 27 also reminds us that the lamp was to keep burning through the night. God does not sleep, does not slumber, and does not stop watching over His people. So today, read Exodus 27 and remember: we come near through sacrifice, we gather because God welcomes His people, and through Jesus our sacrifice is enough and the light is still burning.
