He talks about how they've built their own studio to make this record, their songwriting process, his writing and production philosophies, the history of the band, the story and message behind "Lose Your Delusion", their friendship and how they manage to stay focussed and organized during the process of making a great (DIY-)record without real deadlines and time pressure. Ich durfte die Band aus der Ferne bei den Aufnahmen begleiten und dabei helfen, von Anfang an das bestmögliche rauszuholen, bevor ich die EP dann bei mir im Studio gemischt habe. Für mich ein absolutes Herzensprojekt mit coolen Leuten, das mir tierisch Spaß gemacht hat und auch ein Projekt, das es mir ermöglicht hat, unsere Recording-Kurse und das Coaching über theselfrecordingband.com [https://theselfrecordingband.com] auf Herz und Nieren zu testen. Wir sind alle super stolz auf das Ergebnis und ich finde es absolut beeindruckend, was die Band hier inhaltlich, musikalisch und visuell rund um diese EP auf die Beine gestellt hat. Eine klasse Message und Story in jedem Song, super Features auf der Platte, eine großartige Verbindung zwischen Sound und Inhalt, tolle Videos und jede Menge Herzblut. I will just say that they have released a killer new record on March 18th 2022, called Feel The Void. It’s out on End Hits Records, an amazing record label run by my friend Oise Ronsberger (who was on this show twice already, by the way).  And this new Hot Water Music record is special in so many ways. Not only the music but also the stories behind it and the things that happened during the process of making it. We’re talking about all that on the episode and of course I also have some nerdy gear and engineering questions (I'm a bass player, too, the Hot Water rhythm section is pretty legendary and I was talking to their producer, Brian McTernan, before the interview, who gave me even more questions for Jason). David Schumann (KMPFSPRT, Hammerhead, The Tokyo Diaries) - ORP Session #67

Check das: theselfrecordingband.com [https://theselfrecordingband.com/] Podcast-Archiv: benedikthain.com/podcast [https://benedikthain.com/podcast] Heute bei mir zu Gast ist David Schumann, Gitarrist und Sänger der Band KMPFSPRT, die am 18.März 2022 ihr neues Album „Euphorie und Panik“ veröffentlichen. Außerdem ist David seit 2021 bei der legendären Band Hammerhead and der Gitarre aktiv.  Seine Vita ist wohl mit die spannendste, die ich im Rahmen dieses Podcasts bisher gesehen hab. Von der frühen Kindheit, die er zum Teil in der Türkei verbrachte, über eine nicht gerade unkomplizierte Jugend- und Schulzeit, über seine Zeit im Internat, seine ersten (Straight-Edge-)Bands, einem Lebensabschnitt in Japan, wo er als Model entdeckt wurde, bis hin zu KMPFSPRT und neuerdings auch Hammerhead, gibt es einiges zu erzählen...   Ich hatte von vielen Dingen vorher keine Ahnung und versuche, das alles mal chronologisch mit David durchzugehen und rauszufinden, was am Ende zu KMPFSPRT, deren aktueller Musik, den Inhalten, dem Sound und auch dem Erfolg der Band geführt hat.  Da kommt auf jeden Fall einiges an Einflüssen und prägenden Ereignissen zusammen und ich hatte großen Spaß dabei, das alles mal ein Stück weit gemeinsam mit David zu ergründen.  Viel Spaß!
