While I wouldn’t expect Putin to agree to this, it shows something that’s being picked up in Russian media: for the first time in the war, Ukraine would be entering negotiations from a position of strength and could demand more than ever before. President Trump keeps threatening Iran that if they don’t agree to terms, we’ll restart the bombing. That’s presented as US leverage over the IRGC to come to the table. An oil refinery was hit, giving quite the show to the guests traveling in from around the world and then a corvette was struck in the same area. These targets are 1,000 km inside of Russian territory and their getting hit highlights the challenge that Russia is experiencing in defending all of their territory from Ukrainian drones.
