Description

Hello beautiful listeners and welcome back to the Prickly Pair Podcast! Your hosts, Nicole and Alex got a very special guest on for today's episode. Chef Travis Gary Peters recently opened a gastropub, The Delta, at 135 S. Sixth Ave, in downtown Tucson. Peters told the Prickly Pair Podcast hosts that The Delta is a chef-driven restaurant that reflects his vision, as well as the visions of co-owners Steve Dunn and Bryce Zeagler. The restaurant is inspired by all things Southern, like New Orleans cuisine and Southwestern flavors, but don’t expect to find a standard gumbo. Everything on the menu is experimental with a dash of punk rock spirit.  You can follow them on Instagram @thedeltatucson. Don't forget to tag us on Instagram if you try his shrimp & white cheddar grits at-home recipe @pricklypairpodcast. The recipe is available on our Instagram and online at tucsonweekly.com [https://www.tucsonweekly.com/tucson/southern-accents-chef-travis-peters-has-a-shrimp-and-grits-recipe-for-you/Content?oid=32528855]. episode Episode 5 with May Gilley artwork

Episode 5 with May Gilley

Gilley is the Owner of Lovin’ Spoonfuls and has been vegan for the majority of her life. She's mastered the technique of creating vegan comfort food. She took over Lovin’ Spoonfuls, at 2990 N. Campbell Ave, in 2017 and has kept the restaurant afloat, even during quarantine, in her collaborations with Chef John Paul. Gilley told Prickly Pair Podcast hosts Alexandra Pere and Nicole Feltman that she loves switching people over to veganism and she finds most success in doing it with the buffalo chicken sandwich. “I love getting the older man who has been eating beef every day for 70 years and is like ‘I love this fried chicken, and I am like yes! I got one!” Gilley said. Thank you so much for coming to the show May! Follow their Instagram @lovinspoonfulstucson and tag us on Instagram @pricklypairpodcast. This is the Season 1 finale so continue following our food reporting @pricklypairpod on TikTok! Next season is all about mixology and bartending.

Hello beautiful listeners and welcome back to the Prickly Pair Podcast! Your hosts, Nicole and Alex got a very special guest on for today's episode. Duwayne Hall is the owner and head chef of D's Island Grill JA. Hall's Jamaican menu items have been passed down by generations of his family. Being one of only two Jamaican restaurants in Tucson, we wanted to support his family-owned business by sitting down and asking him a few questions. We talk about everything under the sun. We discuss his experience moving to the US, how he started his cooking career, and what makes Jamaican food so darn good! He is an entrepreneur, dedicated chef, and all-around chill dude.  Visit the restaurant at 3156 E Fort Lowell Rd in Tucson, AZ.
