The Philistines thought that they had not only defeated Israel, but that had captured God Himself by capturing the Ark of the Covenant. They, however, were sorely mistaken. Good intentions are never enough nor are they enduring when it comes to realigning our Spiritual life, especially when it comes to prayer.--Therefore, it is only fitting to begin the New Year with an admonition for all of God's people to pray, and not faint, in that most sacred duty.

The posture of the child of God is one of sincere reverence. It is the fundamental foundation of the Christian's relationship with the Creator of the Universe and the Redeemer of men's souls. Without such reverence it is doubtful that the individual has ever experienced the New Birth.--This attitude of reverence and homage is not only transferred to the Christian by the Holy Spirit. It is also taught, especially to the children, through the example and discipline of the parents.
