The Boys Club

No matter what our theological convictions are, all of us who are reasonable can agree that women have consistently not had an equal voice in the Church. Pastors wives and faithful women of God have been sidelined in many situations, in favor of what seems like a boys club. Is there a better way to raise up strong women and men of God? We talk about this in "Episode 5: The Boys Club: How The Church Can Value Women and Men Equally".

Episode 4 - Used By the Church

Utilitarianism is defined as the doctrine that actions are right if they are useful or for the benefit of a majority. The Church has adopted this posture in elevating people to pedestals, platforms, and sometimes celebrity for their talents. But is this the way the Body of Christ was really meant to function? How many people get hurt and left behind in this paradigm? Is there a way the Church can utilize people in their gifting and celebrate the diverse giftings of everyone equally? We wrestle with all of this in episode 4 of the religious recovery podcast!

Episode 3- Let's Talk About Sex.

Many people have been damaged directly or indirectly by the purity culture movement, which, via legalistic religious motivation, tried to force all Jesus followers to meet an A plus standard of sexual purity before marriage. On the other extreme, the sexual liberation movement of the late 1960's has caused many to live by very open sexual standards. Is there another way? More so, is it possible to pursue sexual purity and enjoyment in a way that honors God yet also meets people at any point in their sexual journey? We explore all of this in Episode 3! Gaslighting- Episode 2

The term "gaslighting" has become a buzzword.  Wikipedia defines gaslighting as making someone question their own reality.  The term may also be used to describe a person who presents a false narrative to another group or person which leads them to doubt their perceptions and become misled, disoriented or distressed.  People have legitimately been hurt and confused by gaslighting in the church and some have perceived that they are being gaslight when they're really not.  We explore this in Episode 2 of the Religious Recovery Podcast!
