episode Story of Scripture--Day 181 "Compassion for the Faithful" (2 Kings 4) cover

Description

Day 181 — Compassion for the Faithful 2 Kings 4 God's greatest displays of power are often found in His deepest acts of compassion. In 2 Kings 4, God provides for a desperate widow, raises a child back to life, purifies poisoned food, and multiplies bread for the hungry. These miracles remind us that God isn't distant from our everyday struggles—He is intimately involved in the lives of His people. Key Truth: God's power is deeply personal. He sees your need, He knows your pain, and He faithfully provides for those who trust Him. Every miracle in this chapter points us to Jesus—the One who provides for our needs, gives life to the dead, removes the poison of sin, and satisfies the hungry soul. Today's Challenge: Where do you need to trust God's compassion today? Bring your burden to Him. The God who cared for the widow, the grieving mother, and the hungry crowd still cares for His children today. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 4:19 🎙️ Listen now to Day 181 of The Story of Scripture with Pastor John. #TheStoryOfScripture #PastorJohn #2Kings4 #Compassion #Faith #TrustGod #GodProvides #BibleReading #DailyDevotional #JesusChrist #Hope #ChristianLiving #GodsWord Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

Day 190 | Holy, Holy, Holy

Day 190 | Holy, Holy, Holy 📖 Isaiah 6 What happens when you truly encounter the holiness of God? Isaiah's answer is clear: you'll never be the same. In one of the most breathtaking scenes in all of Scripture, Isaiah sees the Lord seated on His throne while the seraphim cry: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!" (Isaiah 6:3) In that moment, Isaiah doesn't compare himself to other people—he compares himself to a holy God. His response isn't pride, but humble confession: "Woe is me!" Yet the story doesn't end with conviction. God graciously cleanses Isaiah, removes his guilt, and then sends him on mission. The same pattern is true for us today: 👑 We see God's holiness. 🙏 We confess our sin. ❤️ We receive His grace. ➡️ We are sent to serve. One of the most remarkable truths in this chapter is found in John 12:41, where we're told that Isaiah was seeing the glory of Jesus. The King seated on the throne in Isaiah's vision is the same Savior who would one day humble Himself, go to the cross, and make atonement for our sins. Memorable Truths from today's episode: ✅ The throne of heaven is never empty, even when the thrones of earth are. ✅ The closer you get to God's light, the more clearly you see your need for His grace. ✅ God doesn't send perfect people—He sends forgiven people. ✅ True worship begins with reverence and ends with obedience. Big Truth: The God who is infinitely holy is also infinitely gracious through Jesus Christ. "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'" — Isaiah 6:8 #TheStoryOfScripture #PastorJohn #Isaiah6 #HolyHolyHoly #GodsHoliness #JesusChrist #BibleInAYear #ChristianLiving #Faith #BibleStudy #DailyDevotional #Worship #HereAmISendMe Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

episode Day 189 | Israel Falls artwork

Day 189 | Israel Falls

Day 189 | Israel Falls 📖 2 Kings 17 The fall of Israel wasn't simply a military defeat—it was the result of years of spiritual compromise. God warned His people again and again through His prophets, calling them to repent and return. But they refused to listen. Eventually, the northern kingdom fell to Assyria, reminding us of a sobering truth: Ignoring God's warnings always leads to loss. Yet even in this tragic chapter, we see the heart of God. His warnings were never meant to destroy His people—they were invitations to repentance. God's patience was extraordinary, but His holiness could not overlook persistent rebellion forever. The good news is that where Israel failed, Jesus succeeded. Christ perfectly obeyed the Father and took the judgment we deserved so that all who trust in Him can receive mercy, forgiveness, and eternal life. Today's Takeaways: ✅ God is patient, but His warnings should never be ignored. ✅ Small compromises often lead to significant consequences. ✅ Every conviction is an invitation to return to the Lord. ✅ Jesus bore our judgment so we could receive God's grace. "Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts." — Hebrews 3:15 Don't ignore God's voice today. His correction is an expression of His love, and His grace is always greater than your past when you turn to Him. #TheStoryOfScripture #PastorJohn #BibleInAYear #2Kings17 #IsraelFalls #GodsGrace #Repentance #Faithfulness #JesusChrist #ChristianLiving #BibleStudy #DailyDevotional Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

Double Portion--Episode 7: Healing the Bitter Waters

Episode 7: Healing the Bitter Waters 📖 2 Kings 2:19–22 Jericho looked beautiful on the outside, but its water was poisoned at the source. Everything that flowed from it brought death instead of life. Day 188 | The Lord's Persistent Mercy

Day 188 | The Lord's Persistent Mercy 📖 2 Kings 13 How many times will God forgive? 2 Kings 13 reminds us that God's mercy is not rooted in our faithfulness—it is rooted in His. Even after generations of rebellion, God heard Israel's cry, remembered His covenant, and showed compassion. His mercy was greater than their repeated failures. That doesn't make sin less serious—it makes grace even more amazing. Today's takeaway: ✅ God's mercy is greater than your repeated failures. ✅ His kindness is meant to lead you to repentance. ✅ Your hope rests in God's unchanging character, not your perfect performance. ✅ In Jesus Christ, we see the fullest expression of God's persistent mercy. No matter how many times you've stumbled, God's invitation remains the same: Come home. episode Day 187 — Zeal Without Obedience (2 Kings 10) artwork

Day 187 — Zeal Without Obedience (2 Kings 10)

Day 187 — Zeal Without Obedience (2 Kings 10) Jehu was passionate. He was courageous. He accomplished exactly what God had called him to do. But Scripture reveals a sobering truth: > "Jehu was not careful to walk in the law of the LORD... with all his heart." (2 Kings 10:31) Jehu destroyed Baal worship, yet he refused to remove the golden calves because they protected his own kingdom. His obedience stopped where it became costly. His story reminds us that zeal without wholehearted obedience is not enough. But 2 Kings 10 isn't just about Jehu. It's part of the greater story of Scripture. Every failed king points us to the King we truly need—Jesus Christ. Where Jehu's obedience ended at self-interest, Jesus' obedience continued all the way to the cross. Through His perfect obedience, He not only forgives our divided hearts—He gives us new ones. Reflection: Where has your obedience become selective? Is there an area of your life you've withheld from the Lord? 🎧 Listen to today's episode of This Is the Story of Scripture and discover how every chapter of the Bible ultimately points us to Christ. #ThisIsTheStoryOfScripture #BibleInAYear #2Kings #BiblicalTheology #JesusChrist #ChristianPodcast #BibleStudy #Faith #Gospel #Scripture #DailyDevotional Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]
