Rise with Ryan - Story based meditations for people who hate meditation
Practice 001 — The Empty Theatre | The Silent Projector Welcome back to Rise with Ryan. This is the first of our Practice Sessions — short, narrative-based meditations designed to hold your attention gently enough that you begin to notice what your mind is doing. In The Empty Theatre, you’re invited into a vast, silent cinema where only one thing matters — waiting patiently for the next picture to appear. A flicker in the dark. A thought. A memory. A feeling. Then another. This practice explores one of the central insights of mindfulness: Thoughts arrive on their own — but you do not have to follow every one of them. Inside this practice: • Observing thoughts as they appear, rather than becoming them • Noticing how quickly the mind moves from image to image • Understanding rumination as the mind becoming “stuck on a film strip” • Learning to let thoughts pass without gripping them • Beginning to see the difference between the projector… and the pictures it plays Take your seat. Wait for the picture. Watch what appears. And notice — quietly — who is watching. I’ll see you next time on Rise with Ryan.
