Rocky Mountain Rendezvous: Stories from the French-American Business Community
What happens when you stop treating data as a tool for analysis and start treating it as a medium for storytelling, emotion, and culture? In this episode of Rocky Mountain Rendezvous, we sit down with Marthe Viallet — Paris-based exhibition curator, artistic director, and founder of Wake Up Dataviz and co-founder of Data To Art [https://www.data-to-art.com/] — to explore that exact question. Marthe’s career took her from public finance law to the Musée du Quai Branly, through a consulting firm where she turned 100-page expert reports into large-format visual posters for French industry leaders, and eventually into the world of data art. She is co-founder of Data To Art, an international online gallery launched in January 2026 that archives and showcases the work of data designers, artists, and researchers from around the world. This conversation covers the ethics of data visualization, the difference between a dashboard and a work of art, what a data exhibition for the Paris 2024 Olympics actually looked like from the inside, and why Marthe believes data literacy — even for children — may be one of the most important cultural investments we can make.
