KCUR and KWJC Kansas City, both licensed to the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) provide NPR and classical music programming to Kansas City. The station occupied their studio space since the 1980s in a building built in 1949. Over the years, the building continued to face structural and mechanical problems. The stations were planning to move and looking for a new location when UMKC declared the building unfit for occupation. The stations were given 40 days to vacate. We talk to Chris Prewitt, director of technology and broadcast operations, about the process to find a temporary space and relocate on such a short schedule. https://www.kcur.org/ [https://www.kcur.org/] https://www.kcur.org/inside-kcur/2026-01-15/kcur-building-move-classical-kc-umkc-offices-relocation [https://www.kcur.org/inside-kcur/2026-01-15/kcur-building-move-classical-kc-umkc-offices-relocation] https://www.classicalkc.org/ [https://www.classicalkc.org/] 00:11 Welcome 01:31 Member Update 05:12 40 Days to Relocate
