episode "light of the world" poem video conversation/intro artwork

"light of the world" poem video conversation/intro

in a world of deceit and darkness, where should you look to find light? it's closer than you would ever think. in his next poem video release, "light of the world," published by serotonin press [https://serotoninpress.com/2026/06/13/4-poems-by-david-brooks-ellis/], david writes about the exceptionally overwhelming, stimulating, and nonetheless addicting experience of becoming a talented football player, after which leaves players reaching for more and uncertain about what makes them valued in society. in this world, you'll learn to associate your identity with your performance on the field, valuing the applause above what you feel is true for you, never really understanding how to listen to that voice. when the attention you learn to feed on comes to an end, what will you do to get it back? or how will you orient your life, and make decisions in order to maintain that social feedback? and who do you become in the process of following the voice of the crowd or what stimulates you, above what is true for you? this poem is a call for awakening, remembering, and revolution, from chasing lights set out for us to follow, causing confusion and desolation of inner character, to instead chase the cultivation of a peaceful inner world, listening to your heart above all else, and being solidified in your truth, therefore, light. this poem is a reminder about what makes every individual invaluable in this world, which is not what you have, what you've done, titles, belongings, or who you know, but instead, who you are, how you treat people, what you believe is most important about you, and where your light begins. you are the light, sacred and divine, which is to be protected and nourished at all costs. subscribe to david's channel on substack, spotify, youtube to stay notified about the poem video "light of the world," out friday, 7.10.26. follow on socials: instagram: @brooksellis51 [instagram.com/brooksellis51] x.com [http://x.com]: @ellis_davidb [x.com/ellis_davidb] substack: david's garden [davidbrooksellis.substack.com] thank you for the support.

episode disciples - official poem video artwork

disciples - official poem video

"disciples" - poem video, published by serotonin press. this poem speaks to the deceptive nature of the authoritarian ecosystem of american football that convinces all participants of the authority and dominance of pursuing its mountain for the proposed, propagandized, benefit of a long, healthy life. in reality, in our desire to believe in this mountain to protect our health and happiness long term, the exciting yet dangerous nature of the sport becomes the blinder for immediate and long-term health, personal and familial, consequences awaiting us on the journey and at the summit of the mountain's ascension. in the middle of our struggle to win, we lose sight of how these coaches are constrained by their own lack of job security, pursuing athletic success before personal growth and familial health, sacrificed for the sake of athletic glory, often extending their untamed rage upon their players. every words, behaviors, and ways of speaking imbed into the psyche and ego of the players, leaving them with a distorted operating system of how to treat the people they lead. players become the image of their leaders, though we often believe we are only extracting the good and not the bad. it is the whole person we embody, leading players to become perfectly molded the continuation of this mentality of "putting the team first," "falling in line," and financial or professional success is more important that personal health and familial unity, which runs the same course as historical authoritarian regimes, the same power structure of Nazism, fascism, and dictatorship. we will glorify coaches and players who pursue and conquer this foreign mountain, but then ignore the flaws and character issues during their tenure, or after their time in the sport is over, believing off field problems to be unrelated to their commitment to the sport instead of their own person and families. in reality, it is the sacrifice of character for athletic success that is the cause of off-field problems, anything to win, perpetuating a mentality of violence, control, denigration of supposed inferiors, and entitlement that creates the ecosystem of destruction, unsafe for any participant, fan, coach, or player. follow david on socials: instagram: brooksellis51 [instagram.com/brooksellis51] x: ellis_davidb [x.com/ellis_davidb] substack: david's garden [https://davidbrooksellis.substack.com/]

episode how time fled poem video intro artwork

how time fled poem video intro

is american football a healthy sport for kids? what is it like to go through college football and come out the other side? in this video about the poem "how time fled" you'll learn about the time warp that happens when you become immersed in the sport. this time warp becomes a crucible which they learn how to survive, training athletes to embody a certain mold, which they then use in the real world. although you may believe this mold to be fit for success, in reality, this mold is contradictory to a long, healthy life. given the countless hours spent aiming to become a football player, a sport which doesn't last long for the vast, unfortunate majority of hopeful players, you might wonder if that time would be better spent, on something that helps them launch into the real world with a solid foundation. "how time fled" poem video out friday 6/19
