Shoalhaven YouthLocal
This week on Shoalhaven Youthlocal, the team explores the power of small habits, fascinating marine life, and one of the biggest challenges many young people face as they transition into adulthood — finding somewhere to live. 📚 Book Nook reviews the international bestseller Atomic Habits by James Clear. Arlo explores the book's practical approach to building better habits through small, consistent changes, including the concept of "habit stacking" and how tiny improvements can lead to big results over time. 🌊 Tide Talk dives beneath the waves to meet the colourful clownfish. Bella uncovers some incredible facts about these tiny reef fish, from their unique relationship with sea anemones to the surprising way they change sex, defend their homes, and survive on Australia's coral reefs. 🤔 Would You Rather returns with some of the toughest dilemmas yet. Would you rather come back as a cat or a dog? Swim in the ocean at night or spend the night in a haunted house? Hear the team's hilarious debates and surprising answers. 🏡 Living Skillfully tackles a topic that's becoming increasingly important for young people: renting and share housing. Joined by community worker Rebecca and host Gemma, the team explores rental prices in the Shoalhaven, finding trustworthy share houses, avoiding rental scams, understanding bonds and lease agreements, and where young people can turn if they need housing support. It's a practical conversation packed with advice, local resources, and tips for navigating one of life's biggest milestones. Whether you're building better habits, dreaming of marine biology, or planning your first move out of home, this episode is full of practical knowledge and real conversations that matter. Youthlocal is a Dunn Lewis Foundation youth program designed to develop youth confidence, interpersonal skills, media literacy, and community connections. The team meets every second Wednesday afternoon from 3:30–5:00pm. This term is proudly supported by the Milton Ulladulla Lions Club. ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
