Some Like It Reel
'Saccharine' had its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, as part of its Midnight selection and follows a lovelorn medical student, who becomes terrorized by a sinister force after taking part in an obscure weight loss craze: eating human ashes. Bryan had the opportunity to chat with the film's writer and director Natalie Erika James. In the interview, they discuss James' origins with horror, what drew her to bringing 'Saccharine' to life and how the more personal stories can make for the most effective horror. 'Saccharine' will be released in theaters May 22nd from Independent Film Company and Shudder.
